Title: Injured foot
Post by: little blue on August 16, 2009, 07:37:43 pm
We have had to isolate one of our hens, as she had an injured foot/leg which was bleeding. The other girls were starting to peck at it.
We sprayed it with antibiotic spray and at first covered it with plasters to prevent the bleeding and left her in.
After a day or 2, there was blood visible above the plasters, so I took them off, re-sprayed it and isolated her.
The scales looked abit pushed up but it doesn't seem to be scaley leg, or mites, or bumble foot
Now, it has healed and scabbed over really well, she seems to be coping with being on her own (spoilt by all the attention?!)
BUT  the toe seems to be pointing upwards, can chickens break their toes?
Will it right itself do you think?
She walks ok on it, at first she wasn't weight bearing very well so thats an improvement.
Thanks for reading, any thoughts much appreciated!
