Title: Day old chicks?
Post by: ballingall on October 10, 2013, 06:12:14 pm
Hello all,

Does anyone know where I could get hold of some day old chicks in central Scotland- this week?

I would even be happy to rear a set of chicks for someone- you can have them back!

The reason is we had a clutch of eggs in the incubator, and although half of them developed, most have unfortunately died in the shell. We have hatched two though! But for me to have the brooder on for four weeks, for only two chicks seems a bit a bit wasteful of electricity- hence me looking for something else to rear with them.

I am looking for a couple of younger egg laying hens, and if anyone had any suitable chicks, I would be happy to buy/swap/trade for some. Anything like Light Sussex, Barnvelder, Welsummer's or hybrid types would be great.

Let me know if anyone has anything suitable, or knows where I could source some day old chicks. Will be in Dundee at the weekend, so could collect from that area.

Beth
