I just needed to share with like minded people. :gloomy: I lost an old friend today, who has been with me thorough many good and bad times. She was quite scruffy and indeed sometimes smelly but I will miss her. We have been together shepherding in blizzards and torential rain, searching for lost setters across the moors, and indeed lambing in the wee hours. The good times however were also many, together seeing the lambs born and thrive, this year succesfully working my young setter who I thought I'd never control, and winning my first ever KC agility class with my collie! Sadly I have to admit to letting my friend get abused by my dogs. Stitches were required on more than one occasion :o The final attack must have happened last night, and death was swift. I should have protected my friend better and I'm now ridden with guilt and grief. This morning I have had to throw my old Aigle jacket in the bin :'( :'( :'(

Oh Shep, you had me welling up there :'( . Despite your last sentence you have my sympathy :bouquet:

Won't it have made a good dog bed? That's where most of our really old clothes go....
-
:'( :'( , its so hard to part with well worn but well loved coats......I have a few to PTS too so my deepest sympathies............................although  just had a thought, a new one would certainly help you forget your sad loss! ;)

LOL!!! For a minute there I was thinking you had to throw the jacket out because it was covered in blood from the dead dog!!!

Sorry for your loss old shep

Our house suffered a similar fate , when old camo jacket came to .....an end ,,, we couldn't see it coming
its almost like a pattern forming

Tears turned to laughter - you rat :-J ! You really got me going ;D ;D ;D

There's always the possibility of resurrection ..... as jackets for poorly lambs.

Doh - you had me going for a moment there ;D .
BTW what's an Aigle jacket??
-
iv had the same jacket for 20 years! sleeves are all knackered and people must think im a real scruff but i love it. i also have a very holey jumper and its my absolute favourite but im wondering if is just too holey to wear.
-
thank you all for your sympathy ;D The other coats are now jostling for pack leader, I'm not sure of the outcome yet ;D

I haven't had the best of days, I switched on tas for some light relief, read your post and :'(

I do hope you'll buy him some new ones first - its getting a bit chilly for going commando ::) ::)

Oh dear, that happened to me last year. The new pack leader is now going the same way and we're looking forward to a winter together. I had an intermediate 'friend' over the spring which helped out by becoming our newborn goat kid's cosy bed for a month, lying on the goat house floor for all to tramble. It washed nicely and is doing a supporting role these chilly mornings.
They become like a second skin don't they, I felt terrible when I threw my original one away, I felt 'false' in my new one, it smells nicely of me (et al) now though. :D

I could kill you!

I thought it was only old who kept much loved well worn comfortable rags that smelt like a dead badger washed in sewage .
My first wife made it her task in life for me to always be like that so no other lady would ever look at me..
Guess what .... I had a change of clothes down on the allotment , the change of wife came several years later.

Well I got a nice coat of Gumtree today, they wanted £50 but took £30 and its just my size and looks brand new....its new price is anything from £130- £170 so I did well...although I still have my Howard parker (fresh meat)
-
just got to add, now I have spent my budget so my husband can stay in his holy pants for now :innocent:
-
when my next door neighbour left..... I rescued his "old" barbour from his skip (I wish I could say this was all I rescued, but I am an avid skip diver.... ).. his "old" barbour is now my best farm coat......
I am afraid I channel my inner compo a little too much at times ;)
RIP Aigle...

Me and my husband are so skip divers and free cyclers, its amazing that people throw out just what we need....although I think we can save for more pants :innocent:
