... well the kitchen living room anyway. For the first time (apart from the occasional breakdown) in nearly 20 years I haven't switched a PC on and I really hadnt realised how noisy the fan on them was. The new laptop even when working and fan going full speed is really very quiet - and I only have to shut the lid to turn it off. And if I forget and leave it unattended it switches itself off ;D
One touch of the button or pad and it comes alive again. I love it already
The mouse pad on these is either not very good or takes some getting used to but I have a superdooper raido mouse on order, which I can hardly wait to get
So far the Sony Vaio is getting the thumbs up. I will keep you informed

Hey - I'm just trying out my new laptop, too! I agree on the noise; my old PC sounds as if the hamster is getting ratty once it's been running for a while...
-
Glad you are enjoying your new toy  they are a world apart from the large desktop versions :excited:

Once I get "on the road" I assume I will need some sort of travelling case to keep it safe in the back of the "bus"
Any recommendations?

We have just bought an ipad and bought a new case to protect it. OH has now just bought a new case to protect the new case :roflanim:
-
Like it :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:

we also have a case for our I pad and a case for the I pad when its in its case...THEN, I have a pretty padded Labtop bag that the lot will fit into.... :roflanim:

A proper laptop case with pockets for peripherals will not cost much and yes would be useful when you start your new nomadic life. It presumably would be in a cupboard while you are travelling but protection would be useful too

Look forward to hearing how you get on, mine is stuck together with tape, but not sure how long it will last.

So far I am loving it though I do miss having a mouse and am really looking forward to getting the one I have ordered. Otherwise so far AOK

I bought a Sony Vaio utrabook last year - it's fab  I do use a small wireless mouse with it when I'm at home.

I prefer a mouse to the flattened hedgehog on my laptop.
Bionic - we just got some Ipods so that we can Facetime and message each other whilst she is in hospital. Fantastic and we can download so many aps and use the internet via local WIFI.

Fantastic things getting better

Sue, the first thing I did was get a mouse for my laptop, I couldn't be doing with the silly pad thingy either. Don't forget you have a bolt-hole here when you get to NE Scotland :)

:) Thanks Julie - how narrow are your roads up there. So far my minumum requirment seem to be up to about 28/30 ft !!!!! :o

You'll be a pro by the time you've manoeuvred it to Scotland. The roads are ok actually and possibly better maintained then south of the border, which always surprised me until I started to take it for granted. Our track is going to have logging lorries lumbering up and down it very soon so it should be wide enough for you. One of our neighbours drives an artic so you won't be stuck for long if it comes to it.

Sounds great - Scotland wha hey - never knew what that really meant and certainly don't know how to spell it :roflanim:

No problem here - 5 minutes off the motorway onto an A road and a huge back yard to park in. Had my own here for a couple of years till I sold it to my cousin, and my sister's motorhome (Sundance) has lived here for a year - only just gone to their new home after changing theri driveway to accommodate the beast.

Thanks Doganjo

I have a Sony Vaio as well and love it.
