Hi people,
First post so apologies if I've neglected to find the info elsewhere in the forum from recent months. I have an acre of rough paddock, used for a few apple trees and chicken coup so far. Unlikely to add sheep or goats and thinking towable flail mower as I have a Landy. Can't justify a compact tractor and full size mower really as although cost would be similar maintenance will be double.
I'm thinking rock machinery at £2600 or waiting for a used chapman or quad x as budget really can't be much more than the Rock. Any advice on this truly appreciated.
P.s. I'm thinking toppers and rollers won't handle the ruts and leave unsightly grass mounds behind.

You're right re the topper, it will just shear the protective shear bolts every time it hits a rock or a big rut (been there :-))) flail is def the answer,
One more to add to the list, Logic do a towed (self powered) small flail mower, might be worth considering too as their toppers are reasonable price.

Thanks for the topper tip. Need something durable. Seen the Logic ones at a similar price. Seen some at 1500 too but look cheap......if anyone has a good rec for a budget machine or knows where I could find a used decent one other than eBay and gum please let me know - Cheshire based.
Thanks again

either that or just get it contract cut saves you a fortune.

I've had a logic flail for about 8 years and it was 2nd hand coming to me. I can't fault it as all I've done is oil and filter change and replace a few blades.
