Woke this morning to thunder and lightning and one quaking Jack Russell hiding under the duvet. Now it just looks dull and miserable out there, I am sure many are happy to see the rain and so would I be if it were not for the fact that I have hay lying cut in the field.

I think it's a break in the summer.
It was hot here this morning and my Jack Russell alerted me to the fact that it was going to tip down with rain, by barking like a loon and tearing indoors, leaving his new found mousehole unattended! (he's been outside it for four days now!). It tipped down for about 5 minutes ony though - more needed!

No the heat will be back at the week end not so hot then im looking at the second week of august :sunshine:

Thanks VF, hoped you would be around to answer my post

Rain lashing down here at 7pm, thunder and lightning in the distance. I was sorting a few things out in the fields still very warm 20c. Water running down the road like a river, the fields were very dry and were in need of a watering. When I got home and there had been very little rain not enough to wet the ground. The sun will be back no worries.

We haven't even cut the hay yet, OH only has enough time free to do it at the beginning of August so I'm hoping some warm comes back!! :fc: had the baler mended specially!

Thunder and lightning during the night and some rain. It was overcast during the morning but the sun came out this afternoon.

could do with a thunderstorm here - everything's dry and the butt's nearly empty. It did almost rain this am; just enough to make the roofs damp but not enough to run off into the butt; then the sun came back.
Not complaining mind - not after last monsoon summer. ::)

had a bit here today as well but not near way enough

There was a short but cracking thunderstorm here yesterday late morning, and another late evening. I was outside in the first and it was a huge relief to have the rain as my land was burning dry and I was having to feed hay to ponies in July which I really can't afford. They're plenty fat enough but still need something to keep them occupied as the electric wire seems to have shorted somewhere in the barn or underground and I don't need them leaning over fences causing damage.
Today the sun is back but less intense, which suits me just great, I can't bear so much heat as last week. Hoping the grass will grow with the combination of rain and sun and that folk making second crop will get a good cut. My supplier was saying yesterday that they've finished hay 2 weeks early but 1000 bales down as it never grew the last month and they didn't dare wait to cut.

I think we are all desperate for some rain. Where we are we get extremes in weather and the poor hens and goslings (more like geese now at 7 weeks and up to lots of mischief) are struggling. They have a copse in their field but everything is just so dry and dusty.
We have had 2 or 3 spells with thunder but no rain. it keeps missing us. We had a few spots this morning but that is it. My artificial hip is telling me it should be on its way though.

We had torrential rain, thunder and lightening overnight - if the buckets are anything to go by, it wasa couple of inches at least. Humid this morning but not full sun and 20C. Summer's back

We had a bit of a storm yesterday morning and that was it. I thought we were supposed to have a rubbish day! Sat outide at the moment, in the sun. Car read 22 when I came home about an hour ago.

No rain at all in our bit of Powys. No storms and the sun keeps shining, if a bit hazy at times.
Ground is dust.

Serious thunderstorm and 1" rain yesterday. Back to being hot and sunny again this afternoon. One BC quaking under the table, one looking worried and the new pup not too concerned.
Still need more rain (between 10pm and 6am please :)) and a breeze would be good :relief:

No thunder or lightning so far though it has looked ominous . Started raining 4ish :raining: and finished about 20 past :sunshine: . The ground is now dry again.

We need some rain! Only had a few showers here (Devon). The water butts are empty so am driving 200L water up the field most days in 25L containers- its getting me fit! I can now carry one to the pens from the car and lift one to shoulder hight and pour it in for the piggies. I hate going to the gym and have never done well lifting heavy stuff so I think I'm doing good- not bad for a girl!

The weather should be much quieter across most of Britain today and despite temperatures easing off it will still be generally warm. In central and eastern parts mostly dry weather is expected with sunny spells developing and temperatures probably reaching 27C (81F) in the south eastern corner. Still very warm but noticeably cooler than in recent days. In the west and north west showers are likely to continue, becoming heavy at times, but there will also be dry and sunny spells. During the next couple of days the showers will again become more widespread, with some hefty ones mixed in. Temperatures are set to remain above average, but lower than during the heatwave. By the weekend the plume of hot air will be over the near continent. It could be close enough to warm things up Much quieter weather for most today and still warm :sunshine:
