Friends have asked for an apple tree as a birthday/Christmas present. They want a mature tree and I think it would be nice to have a local variety (we live in Worcestershire). Can anyone suggest where I can buy a mature tree?

About £17 plus P & P for a 2 year old, but google and you may get others

I have used Ashridge trees http://www.ashridgetrees.co.uk/ in the past - I got some 3-year old plums and cherrys from there which have done really well.

Try googling Keepers Nursery, a Kent firm who specialise in all things fruit. They do an apple tree called Worcestershire Pearmain.

Frank Matthews in Tenbury and they actually stock a variety called 'Worcesters' They are the biggest apple tree growers and suppliers in the UK. I bought 70 trees from them last year and they couldn't have ben more helpful. They virtually have every variety of fruit tree under the sun available and at very moderate prices, they supply the garden centres with their trees.

Brilliant Over the Gate, they are not too far from me. Will go have a look see what they've got. The Worcesters sounds just what I'm looking for.

I've ordered 60 trees off them today for collection bare rooted this coming December.
