Title: Hog Roasts
Post by: nelson on June 04, 2013, 06:40:41 am
Morning

Somewhere on this forum I have seen a thread about pig roasts - can't find it now.  Would anyone have an idea of size of pig for max 50 people? Thanks in advance.

Our most recent roast involved a carcass weight of 52Kg (liveweight would have been around 85Kg) - it easily fed 100 people. So depending on how hungry folks are and how much you want by way of leftovers somewhere around 60Kg liveweight would probably cover it I think.

i think its limited to what the hog roast can cope with (presuming its a gas one). we sent in chubby 35kg pigs and the abbattoir man said they were ideal for hog roasting.
