Hello Everyone
I've recently acquired some Silkie Eggs that I'm looking to put in the incubator this weekend, however I'm having a bit of trouble.
The only previous hatch I've done were Runner Ducks (which went okay) using a Relative Humidity of 55%. However on looking up suggested humidity levels for chickens it seems there are a massive range of suggested figures, from 40-45% to 60-65%.
I'm just a bit baffled as to what figure to use.
My instinct would be to go for a lower figure than the duck eggs since, If I remember rightly, Ducks require more innate humidity.
I have a Brinsea 20 Forced Air incubator (which I will be running at 99.5 Degrees F, something that everyone seems to agree on at least), and their manual suggests 45-50%, however some very well regarded websites out there are all swearing blind that it should be at least 60%.
I'm just a bit confused as to what to use.
I wonder if any of you experienced Chooky Hatchers could give me your opinions.
