Title: Wonderwool
Post by: Lesley Silvester on April 27, 2013, 08:39:35 pm
Back home after a great day at Wonderwool, having spent more than I intended.  I now have a peg loom, a merino fleece, warping cotton for rugs, a beginner's dyeing kit and have paid the deposit on  Kromski folding rigid heddle loom.   :excited: :excited:

It was lovely meeting Sally, who is now in my phone as Sally Bionic, and her OH, Geoff, and thanks to both for their help in getting all my stuff back to my car and especially to Geoff for heaving my electric scooter into the boot.

Can't wait for next year's Wonderwool.   :excited:

I echo Lesley's comments, we had a great day. I bought too much also. Cones of wool for weaving. A cone of cotton for my peg loom, small circular needle for socks, fancy yarn to knit a hat, left over silk bits for some felting and a silk cap for spinning.
I could have spent much more if I had the money  ;D

SOOOOOO sorry I didn't make the meet-up folks - had a bad start to the day  :tired: .  Sometime between 10.30pm Friday eve and 6.30am Sat morning, so theiving B*****D climed over 2 gates, went into the big shed and "carefully" removed the Infra Red Lamp which was ON and over a poorly lamb!!!!!  They carefully unplugged it, disentangled the hanging chain and even UNDID the baler twine and just removed it.   Nothing else taken or disturbed.   Someone (and it has to be someone who goes past our place regularly to know it was there ) obviously needed a lamp and thought "I know where there is one".   thankfully the animals were untouched and lamby was fine.   However, we were a bit down in the dumps by the time we got to Builth and it took a couple of hours to shake ourselves up and crack on with some good mooching about, but completely forgot about meeting up until we were on our way back to the car  :surrender: .     Did come home with bag full of wools though (again!) ....... so my stash is getting ridiculously large

Oh Blinkers, what a horrible thing for someone to do.  I'm so glad the lamb was alright, no thanks to your 'visitor'.  Glad you enjoyed Wonderwool too. Maybe meet you next year.

Mandy, I just can't believe the cheek of some people. As you say they must have known exactly what they were after and to do that to the poor lamb. They must have no conscience.
Glad little lamby is ok though. If only it could talk.

Maybe we should have a local Knit n Natter group  :knit: ;D
MGoM - I certainly do hope we can meet up and will definately be at WW next year.  I've been 5 years running now and its getting bigger and bigger although there were a couple of 'old favourites' which weren't there this year

Glad you all had a nice time. Sorry about the stolen lamp. The cheek of some people and the callousness of taking it from a weak lamb.

Its odd isn't it?    They clearly NEEDED this lamp themselves but the fact they left a poorly lamb without the lamp seems a strange thing to do?    If they'd knocked on the door - I'd willingly have leant them a lamp!

Where would be half way, do you think?   "Stitch n Bitch" (and I hate that title) groups often meet in Cafes

About 30 mins from here, that's a good place  :eyelashes: :innocent: ........ Now......venue??? We don't go into town very often and the only place we eat is Diablo's and not sure they'd take kindly to us sitting in there knitting  :roflanim: .    Any suggestions?......it could be just outside of the town if you know of anywhere.

I went to Wonderwool at the last minute with a friend (We were waiting to see what the weather was like after last year!).  Had a fab day and spent too much money.  I bought a peg loom, wool, Wensleydale locks, silk and more.  I would have bought a Kromski folding loom but they didnt have any left when I got there so am having to buy over the net.  I could have spent an absolute fortune, but sadly don't have one!  Would love to come to the Knit and Natter but Camarthen is a little far from Worcestershire.

The one I bought is a Kromski folding one - a 16inch. I've got it all set up so just need to choose a warp for it.

Right now, I'm going to sit in the garden and spin.  ;D ;D
