Title: Where Are You From, Where Have You Been, Where Are You Now?

Hello Everyone

I just thought I'd start this thread in this informal section of this lovely little forum because similar threads have gone down well in other forums I've posted in.

Basically it's very simple.  Where were you born, where have you lived, and where are you now?

I shall lead by example!

Born in Lockerbie, Dumfries & Galloway
Lived In Stockport, Greater Manchester
Lived In Leicester, Leicestershire (University)
Lived in Venice, Veneto, Italy (Bizarre couple of months where I thought I was a poet)
Moved back To Lockerbie
Moved to Glasgow
Rescued from Glasgow by my girlfriend, now live with her outside Falkirk.

How about you lot?

Lived in Kincardine on Forth
Lived in Broxburn, West Lothian
Lived in Airth
Lived in Inverness (and loved it)
and now live in Guardbridge, Fife where I also love and live very happily

All moves have to be closer to work.

My own is going to be rather short..

Shame I don't get to count the nine months or so I spent mostly in Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Denmark, Germany and Poland!

Now settling into country life just outside Linlithgow at Muiravonside.

Born in Aberdeen to a business family - Granda's Ice cream factory, Mum ran the office, Dad a Postie - so very much a Town child ::)
Stayed in Aberdeen after marrying and having two kids, till they were at Uni & college. Still Toonsers ::)
Moved to just outside Ellon, Aberdeenshire, no land but grew veg and helped local farmer Beginning to lose Toonser label  ;)
Stayed there after first husband died :'(, met second one  ;D then
Moved to other side of Aberdeenshire to a small croft (21 acres) :) :)
Hubby made redundant so he helped farmer friends, grew loads of veg, ran on 700 day olds to 13 weeks at a loss :-[  - we lost 'Toonser' label completely
Stayed there for a year after his death but couldn't cope so sold up, built a house, grew veg, kept ducks and chickens
Moved to Central Belt to be nearer family - more dooks n chooks and veg and loving it here.

Born Griffithstown South Wales

lived in Sebatopol next village over to Griffithstown

moved to New Inn (next village to Sebatopol) (boarders on some of the Brecon Beacons national park)

both not far from the 'city' but quite ruralish

travelled briethly around eastern europe for 2 1/2 months (very interesting indeed visited lots of extremes)
meet hubby via the internet

Moved to Newport South Wales (the city) (about 15 miles from New Inn) while in my last years of University with then to be hubby)

Once finished Uni I moved to middle of Tullibody Central Scotland
then moved to outer part of Tullibody (my current location) Central Scotland

Always been a country bumkins

Born Hayes Middlesex (lived on a canal boat on Grand Union until I was 18)
Leighton Buzzard, Beds - in the sticks, acre of land, mum grew loadsa fruit and some veg
Oxford, 'garden' was length of boat and 4 ft wide. Then into house in Oxford with bigger, blank, garden.
Brum - Uni
Oxford
Hamstreet, Kent - garden was reclaimed bit of field, we grew some fruit
New Zealand - 6mths
Oxford
Middleton Cheney nr Banbury.  Current location. Growing fruit and veg.
Next...somewhere remote please! I too am a country bumpkin at heart!!!

Born in Montgomeryshire Mid Wales.
Lived in Montgomeryshire till about 20.
Took a gardening degree or 2 and since then worked as a gardener/designer/developer and travelled and lived all over the UK and abroad building gardens for 40 years

Semi Retired now ::) thats a laugh..And bought Castle Farm. Brilley near Hay on Wye.
Turned it into a place of tranquility and then filled it up with 18 breeds of traditional poultry just to add a bit of background noise. ;D

Rustyme... off the subject a little but I know those places you have lived as my mums was brought up around North Wales and her dads family moved from the Lothians, Scotland to open a mine in Ruaben (sorry about the spelling) one of my uncles was such a charactor and very well known, he lived near Abersoch and when me and my partner went a few years ago, locals came from everywhere to talk to me about him.....he was call James Pryde, his youngest son, my cousin now lives in Glasgow....James used to be a fisherman and tell stories etc Just asking as another relation brought up in Glasgow was very similar, he wrote a book, m y partner lent it to a college in Glasgow and his mate new him well as he too was very well known...just woundering and rambeling...now back to the thread...sorry!!!

really boring :
 lived in a little village called pollington on a farm with my grandparents
 moved to germany (dad in army)
 moved to a town called Goole (in east yorkshire)
 where i still live now 35 years later (ony 37 now)
 my house now hasent even got a garden but parents live near and have an allotment where i keep my chickens all 55 of them mostly layers but ust getting into breading so now have polans,silkies,bramahs and pheasants(golden) :o :-[

Hello Sandy,
               Abersoch and Ruabon are way up north from me , I have never been to either of them . There were characters like your uncles etc round here , but they seem to have mainly dissappeared nowdays . Even here there are many new people moving in and out of the area . Ten years ago you would know most of the people you saw in the village or even passing in cars , that is so totally different now . Before you would know 9 out of 10, now it is completely the reverse 1 out of 10 . All very different indeed.

Not surprised, just a remote chance. I have family in llay, wrexham and Llangolland and so use totravel all over North Wales, I loved it, my uncle died a few years ago, he lived on the llyn penisular and regularly rescued fallen sheep from "Hells Mouth"

Currently live: Grantham - Whilst we find a smallholding in Ibiza or France!

lived in....Reading , Burghfield , Woodley , Lusaka ( Zambia ) , Bombay , London , Brussels , Belgian Ardennes

er' indoors.... Born Brussels , lived in....Mons , Amsterdam , Paris , Senegal ( forgot the city name ) London , Seoul ( s Korea ) , Annaba ( Algeria ) ,Washington DC , Paris , Reading , Brussels ,London, Belgian Ardennes.

All assignments over two years each.  Lived in loads of other places for a few weeks or months . Belgian Ardennes our longest stay, 15 years.

Lived in Kinross, Tayside (until it became Perth & Kinross) for 24 years. Always rural- we had 4 acres at our house and 12 acres 2 miles down the road at our nursery.
Now live outside Falkirk, Central Scotland for 4 years now. Still rural- live in the middle of nowhere but only 1 1/2 acres.
