Title: My News
Post by: Blinkers on March 12, 2008, 08:37:59 am
I'm just bursting to tell everyone now.....but still nervous it could fall at the last hurdle....but we have now got a buyer for our bungalow (we rent our 12 acres of land and yard 1/2 mile up the road) and are buying our dream home......14 acre Smallholding in South West Wales  ;D ;D ;D ;D  It overlooks the Preseli Mountains, has a holiday annex, veg garden, poly tunnel, fruit garden, hen houses, looseboxes inside one barn, plus a dutch barn, plus .......oooooohhhhh I don't know LOADs of stuff....AND a duck pond.....Oh and there's a river running along the bottom edge of the pasture and....and...and....Oh I'm just SO EXCITED.   Now the nightmare begins of trying to work out how we'll get all the stock there....let alone us!!!  AND........I give my notice in at work on Friday  ;) ;) fantastic.

Really great news Blinkers,
it is fantastic when things work out right ....Another one in Wales too , the more the better. Apart from being a bit wet at times  ::) ::) I am sure you will love it here .Out in the countryside it is pretty much like a time warp , the way things used to be...great. The very best of luck to you in your move, Croeso Cymru.....( welcome to Wales).

Time warp ;Ddefo on that, want something done tomorrow, then ask 2 weeks ago ;D I think maybe daily welsh words should be sent to blinkers, to get her into the lingo ::) ::) no swear words would be posted tho promis ;D :D
Title: Re: My News
Post by: rustyme on March 12, 2008, 04:38:47 pm
time warp : yep if you want something done ..do it yourself is best...oh and, I think I saw one of those big silver birds in the sky today !!! As for Welsh words, everyday ones or otherwise . I can't even manage English ones properly let alone Welsh  ;D ;D.  I  used to understand most of the local Welsh , as my then brother inlaw was Welsh speaking , but then I had a car smash and it wiped out the previous 10 years or so of memory !! :(, that included all the Welsh I knew!. So I just stick to my bad English now .  ;) ;) ;D

Post by: Blinkers on March 12, 2008, 04:39:10 pm
Oh..cool..... A daily Welsh word would be great........but I'll need ONE swear word (at least)    Is it really that laid-back?    Its just gets better and better.      ;D ;D ;D     And is there really such a saying as.............."yukky dar" .........however it's spelt......or is that arabic or something  :-\ :-\ :-\

Well done Blinkers! That is fantastic news, so exciting. I hope every day that I am a day closer to packing in life in front of a laptop and desk! It keeps me going - however much I might be kidding myself. I trust you have read all of Chas Griffin's books? He offers some good experience when it comes to smallholdings in Wales and they are very amusing. Best of luck and huge congratulations. We want full details!

Sal :P

one of the top of my head. eskimo visits wales, breaks down in hes car and not sure wot to do.  Welsh man comes along and asks whats rong. eskimo not being to sure what is wrong asks welshman to have a look in engine.  " well well" says the welshman "youve blown a seal"!!! "so!!"  says the eskimo "you sh#g sheep"  ;D

well seem to have gottaway with putting that on, will have to go through my jokes archive on the other comp for all the welsh ones i can find  ;D bet you must be realy excited about your move, youll love it in wales once you get used to the speed things are done here. it can be a little slow to say the least.  Atleast where your going to, your not to far from cardiff, will prob take about an hour or so from  your part.
Title: Re: My News
Post by: Blinkers on March 20, 2008, 09:26:07 pm
Its still scary......as no signatures on dotted lines yet, but we've had surveys etc done and spoken to loads of people about different things ...like the water supply!!.....and other things we're gonna have to ask questions about. But we're just sooooo excited - it just seems its all too good to be true!   The really spooky thing is that the day we went to view it (20th Feb) was the very date 11 years previous that the current owners viewed it and fell in love with it!!   Gotta be a good sign.  ;)  Anyone out there (in Wales) who can help me continue with my sheep dog training??

.......still packing and still no signatures on dotted lines...but all appears to still be moving in the right direction slowly  but then its not possible to speed up solicitors is it.  Ooops, probably someone on here is a solicitor??   All the weaners have now gone to new homes...and all really nice homes too. Even though they are going to end up in the freezer, its nice to know people are going to 'enjoy' rearing them as well as eating them! ;)

Post by: Blinkers on June 11, 2008, 01:39:38 pm
We finally, finally moved to "Glyn Elwyn" on 28th May on a rather wet day...............but had sunshine ever since...literally.   It is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.   Its even better than we remember and our feet aren't realy touching the ground.....until we fall into bed each night.   Tons to do but loving every second of it.     Pigs and Poultry arrived last Thursday and go back to collect the horses on Monday 16th.  Then we return to sussex AGAIN mid July to collect sheet and LASTLY mid August to collect goats - all of which are on their 60 day standstill following Blue Tongue vaccination.    We have a new website in its very early stages at the moment and I'll pass that on as soon as I'm given the 'OK' !!
Dug the vegetable patch completely now and planted all sorts.   Harvesting Strawberries like they're goin' out of fashion from the poly tunnel and lettuces and broadbeans in abundance.
We're in paradise. ;D
PS - Just need some Dexters now  ;) ;) ;) :cow:
