Hi, I just joined the forum. We have about 6.5 acres with 6 chickens, a flock of someone else's sheep and two small children. We have been here for almost exactly a year and have ultimate dreams of growing lots of fruit and veg and having our own sheep, a few pigs and a horse. The current job is hedge planting and improving the drainage in our swamp of a garden. Any tips on getting rid of marsh grass would be very welcome!

Hello and welcome from Falkirk.
We got rid of marsh grass in our fields because the goats ate it all!
Planting willow is supposed to be fairly good at spooking up water too.

Hello and welcome to TAS from me in Lanarkshire too
We're just outside Lesmahagow and have a few :innocent: pigs, two Shetland calves, a Shetland pony and 4 kids (2 legged variety :D).
After last year's summer :raining:, we're also planning on sorting drainage this year ;)
Look forward to hearing more from you,
Karen

 Hi, no small holding, only the remaining few hens to keep weeds at bay (none died but were relocated to to moving asap) but I love the idea of moving to Lanarkshire, we did live near Strathaven in rented......I also think willow is great, it will be able to be cropped every 3 years to either use for fuel or sell on...as long as its not planted near houses or walls it should help with draninage!! pretty too!!!
