Wow Jackie, thats fantastic.
I did slimming world some years ago and lost 3.5 stones so I know it works too.  I really need to loose weight again. Just need to get motivated to start again.

Thank you I went from a size 24 to a 10 :)

How I kept myself motivated was standing in front of the mirror naked and jiggling and the bits that wobbled had to go, apart from the boobs of course lol

Good luck if you start again :)

Wow that is impressive.  You've lost the weight of a whole person.  How tall are you?  I was a 24 but I am 5ft 9ins.  Size 18 now and would like to go down some more.

Annie, I'm not ready to start my diet, no, healthy eating, for a couple of weeks but after that perhaps we could motivate each other

Worth a try, Sally.  I know what I do wrong - I don't plan ahead, so when I am hungry I reach for the bread, butter and cheese.  I don't bother cooking for just myself.
Title: Re: Anyone want Slimming World diet help?
Post by: Bionic on February 11, 2013, 11:11:59 am
Annie, I know the answer to that one. Don't buy the bread, butter and cheese.

I know its difficult cooking for one. I was in that position for many years but as you already know planning ahead is the key. You could perhaps cook several healthy meals in one go and then when you are hungry you would have something to hand.

Just what I was going to suggest, Sally.  I make up a huge pot of stew with loads of veggies that can be frozen in small portions.  all you have to do then is dig one out of the freezer and slam it in the microwave.

Annie, I'm with you on the not bothering to cook.  When my OH was away training with his latest dog, I lived on salad all week.  Oh and the odd baked potato.  Not really salad weather at the moment, I know but a big pot of soup on the go...... :yum:

I know everyone says making soup is easy and delicious - sorry, but I don't agree.  Don't like it, like something to chew on, and I make rotten soup anyway.  I haven't time to cook either.  I have a slow cooker so I can maybe use that.

Annie, I used to make delicious low calorie chicken casserole in my slow cooker. You could fill the cooker up and you will then have several portions with something to chew on  ;D

Dont know if this helps, but I make a huge vat of veggie soup in my pressure cooker. I put in carrots, onions, swede, leeks, celery and a tin of tomatoes plus some puree with some chopped lean bacon and a couple of pints of veggie stock. Bring it up to steam and let it do its thing for half an hour. When its de-steamed, take the lid off, just mash the veggies with a potato masher, leaving as many large bits as you want. THEN add a tin or two (depending on the amount of soup you have) of baked beans. Warm it thoroughly again, and season. Its ready then to use. It freezes beautifully and is virtually syn free on the SW diet. WARNING......It can be a bit "windy" due to the veg and beans, so dont eat it before a first date! :roflanim:

Just a thought. The diet section on the forum has been archived. Perhaps we can get Dan to bring it into the members only section again and we can use it as our very own slimming club. I too have all the SW books thanks to my friend in the UK so I could answer most questions too. I used to go to the classes when I was living in Swindon and even I did quite well!
I for one, have a real reason to want to lose weight. I will be going over to the other side if the channel in about a year and I want to look GOOD!!!!

Put a different head on Jackie's first picture and that could be ME! This just makes me all the more determined. Trouble is, Im too afraid to get on to the scales for the first weigh-in. I keep putting it off as I know Ill just cry when I see those numbers.
My confidence is at an all time low, and I think that's the reason I dont go out very much. I also wonder what people are saying about be behind my back. I know that you shouldnt worry about such things, but I do. I also wont Skype anyone cos all I see looking back at me is my big fat face with all those chins. Its so depressing! In case you think Im making any of this up, I am now DOUBLE the weight I should be (and used to be) and Im ashamed that Ive let it get this bad. It makes every bone in my body ache as soon as I try to do anything physical and I already have a bad back. Plus Im tired all  the time from carrying all the weight around.
There...Ive bared my soul to you all, its the image therapy part of SW. Im going to be so good, I want to win Slimmer of the week!!!

With support I firmly believe  sw and friends here can help :)

Mary, I know just what you mean.  I used to feel bad if I ate something naughty, eg chocolate, ice cream, in public because I imagined everyone thinking No wonder she's so fat.  Look at what she's eating.  I did manage to lose quite a lot on the low GI diet but it was being in so much pain that made lots of weight drop off.  Be brave, step on the scales but don't cry because you are so overweight but smile because that is the last time you will see that number come up.

Yep..all systems go over here ladies. Im having the same breakfast Ive had for the last 3 days, scrambled egg (made in the microwave with just a drop of milk) with ryvitas with marmite on. Its a lush breakfast and keeps me going till lunchtime. Ill have some soup then, followed by fruit and a yoghurt. I havent worked out tonight's tea yet, but a low fat spag bol is well on the cards as its a bloomin cold day. However, it could equally be roast lamb with lots of veggies..such choices.
I cant even drop sugar from my drinks, or milk as I only drink black coffee and havent taken sugar in drinks for years.
Im going to be calling my old school friend this morning, Im back in touch with her after a few years. Now she certainly doesnt look her age, and even after 4 children she is a slim as ever and still stunning. I certainly want to lose this blubber before I see her in the flesh.

I am going to do it but have a couple of things in the way first so won't start it until I get really organised.

The before and after photos are amazing and a real inspiration.   Congratulations - it was a massive amount to lose in only 9 months.   I tried SW years ago and lost a bit, but our group was very uninspired and unmotivated and I gave up too, nowhere near my target weight.   My problem is being a classic yo-yo dieter, usually manage to get a reasonable amount of weight off using different diets each time, swear I'll never put it back on again, but without fail regain it all in the next year/two years.   I believe that happens to a lot of others too.   Does SW address that problem too?   Tamsaddle

You can do this Mary and the menu you have sounds great. Im having spag bol tonight made with quorn mince though as Im on green plan

Thank you Bionic, I think people do look younger when they are slimmer.

Yes SW is a life long healthy eating regime rather than a diet as most people know it. Im never hungry on it and still do have anything I want just in moderation so wont put the weight back on

My sister is almost four years younger than me and has recently managed to lose 3 stones over the last year at the recommended rate.  However, although her body is slim and fir, due to regularly going to the gym, her face is now lined and she looks older than me.

I must admit, I do wonder where all the excess skin is going to go as Im not spring chicken so its not just going to snap back into place. Mind you, Ive got to lose the weight first havent I?

Can I start this off a little more by saying I want to lose 8lbs. I know its nothing compared to some now but  Im over my target weight so need to lose it. I REALLY pigged out at Christmas and am now back on track

So this week my aim is 2lbs

Please can you guys say what you aim to lose this week?

Can we all synchronize our weighing so we weigh ourselves on say a Tuesday every week and see how we do?

WELL THAT'S OFFICIAL..........IM DEPRESSED!!!
Finally plucked up the courage to get on those damned scales....they've NEVER liked me, I dont know what I've done to upset them other than stand on them!!
It showed that I was 10lbs MORE than I thought I was, so Ive got all that to lose to get back to where I used to be. Im just so relieved that I was very good yesterday, and am still full of enthusiasm. Despite my bad back and stomach, Im going to try and stay active today, Ive got some feed bags to empty into bins as well as a lot of tidying up to do. We've also got go clear a space to get our treadmill out so that I can start some gentle walking Im not going to let it get me down..Im not going to let me get me...........

I too got a shock when I stood on the scales, but let's be honest, secretly knew it wasn't going to be good news as I've been putting the weigh in off for so long!

Anyhow that's the worst over,  had a very good day yesterday,  what helped me was I prepared a lush bowl of fruit salad, which I picked at all day, rather than going for biscuits or crisps to snack on . eating an apple just doesn't appeal to me, however, mix it with 1/2 tin manderins, chopped pineapple, few grapes , and kiwi and it was quite delish

Don't be depressed you stood on the scales NM.   You have taken the first important step to stop deluding yourself about your weight and all the overeating you have been doing.   I too avoid the scales like the plague when I am eating too much, but when I eventually do force myself to get on them, finally knowing just how bad things have got always provides the kickstart I need to wake up, get my head out of the sand, and start doing something positive about it.   You will succeed if you are determined enough !!!!   Because the rewards of feeling fitter and lighter, even though they are months away, are ALWAYS WORTH IT.   Just look again at those pics of Jackie - Tamsaddle

Just a thought, or two .....  Don't get too fixated on weight - if you're active then some of it, at least, will be more muscle than the average person carries around, and that weighs more than fat.  If you have a craving for something sweet try eating something sour (pickled gherkin or onion) or salty (a few salted nuts) instead.  If you know you're going to have an energy dip in the day do have some carbohydrate for slow-release energy.  Better a slice of toast at breakfast than a Mars bar at 11.00 a.m.!

This is based on how F1 drivers train - and it works!

Quite right Lesley. Im really hoping that is the case. Im being so good and trying to stay active as much as I can, ill be so disappointed if I havent lost anything the next time I get on those bloomin scales.
It was such a shock seeing that I'd put on so much extra weight yesterday, I spent the whole day in a bad mood. It did increase my resolve and willpower though so hopefully that "little" extra will be gone in a month.
Hope that your scales were a bit kinder to you this morning than mine were to me yesterday!!

Please girls only weight yourselves once a week as it can get disheartening if we think we should have lost more than we have.

My favourite meal is 3 fried eggs, beans and chips all SW style and healthy courtesy of frylight so it doesn't have to be unhealthy  :D

Great idea Bionic, there's some good recipes and inspiring stories in the mag just dont mix and match the plans on the same day:) Some people have a few days on one plan then swap

I tend to use the green plan bu lost all my weight on the red (original) plan. Extra Easy seems too easy so cant seem to get my head round that one?? lol

I am completely amazed you can eat 3 fried eggs, beans and chips on the SW diet, even if it is all fried in frylight.   I will have to look into the SW diet again in more detail.   It looks as if there are still green and red days, and sins.   Someone told me about a year ago SW had changed the system completely and red and green days were history, but from your last post, it appears not.   When I did it years ago I lost much more weight using red days than green, as all stodgy carbohydrates are my great weakness and temptation.   Tamsaddle

Going to join you with this one  :)  Jackie, you've been an inspiration and I've loved seeing your progress on FB!
I lost 3st on SW 3 yrs back and was almost at target but then we moved house, ironically we moved to the same village where the SW group was (9 miles I'd been driving before) and I stopped going (make sense of that if you will!)
so back to square one....

When I lost 3.5 stones on SW diet (quite a few years back) I found that red days suited me best too.
Having said that my favourite stop gap meal was green, fried eggs and instant mashed potato (can't imagine eating instant mash now). It was quick and the mash soaked up the lovely egg yolks.
We also used to make a lot of corned beef quiche which was free on red. I don't think its free these days as you have to count corned beef now but if it worked then so I don't see why it wouldn't work now.
Title: Re: Anyone want Slimming World diet help?
Post by: NormandyMary on February 16, 2013, 01:35:13 pm
Fancy you mentioning the corned beef quiche Bionic. I used to make that too, but in a slightly different way. I didnt make the base with the corned beef, I used to chop it up and mix it into the egg, along with the cottage cheese and onion. I then used to put sliced tomatoes all over the top before I baked it. I then used to do one with eggs, c/cheese, onion, peppers and tinned TUNA. Its lush and WOULD be free food on the red plan today. We cant get cottage cheese in France, but Ive bought something else this morning which apparently will do the same thing. Its fat free too which is great. My shopping trolley contents were so healthy this morning, just as well as I bumped into our doctor at the fish counter. I didnt want him thinking I wasnt trying to lose weight.
Note to all ladies and especially to DAN. Perhaps we should use the diet forum in the archive and get Dan to make it private like the Members bit is. What do you think?

I couldn't eat that much.  I had a baked potato with low fat spread and soft blue cheese.  Not good but I forgot to take my pain killers until it was too near the next dose was due and I really couldn't be bothered cooking two separate meals (OH had an individual steak and kidney pudding).

I lost weight by counting calories and doing exercise. I lost 3st from Feb 2011 to last month. I just lost a further 8lb.

I use myfitnesspal.com (or have been since Jan).

I can obviously eat whatever the hell I like as long as I meet my calorie goals. Logging cals is pretty easy too, and you can adjust how much protein, fat and carbs you want to take in (I eat a lot of protein because I'm trying to keep my muscle whilst losing - I need it for chucking sheep about).

If anybody joins and wants to add me, shoot me a message on here and I'll add you in.

Well done Steve. It just goes to prove that different weight loss plans work for different people.
Do you have any before and after photos you can let us see for inspiration?

I have a before photo - when I have a minute, I'll do an after one....

I do need to lose weight.  I'm at a nephews wedding in April and am a good few stone heavier than I should be!

I've done WW a couple of times and last year lost a stone, but have yet again lost motivation to carry on.  I have so much going on in my life (being made redundant in a few months so working out whether to take the money, try for another civil service job, look for something completely different, working out tax brackets etc) I just get low and eat "crap"!

If anyone is available to "kick" me up the (ample) backside once in a while, I'm sure I would appreciate it.

I am a member of myfitnesspal like Steve and have to recommend it for calorie counting. it is extrememly easy to use and their database is huge and, so far, I've always been able to find what I want to add to my food diary in their already. Even if it isnt, its very simple to add values for a food product from a packet.

Before having children I was around 11 stone and could have done with losing a few pounds (i'm only 5'3") but once I had finished churning children out (!) I weighed in at a massive 17 stone! I bought a nindentdo Wii and started using wii fit. For someone who was obese and unfit it was a great way to start. I stuck with it and by Jan 2012 was down to 10 1/2 stone (some of this I lost through an illness but alot was hard work!). I also quit smoking at the beginning of this last year and I have to say, that made a huge impact on my fitness levels, almost imediately. By May I was running the race for life!

I still run but due to kids and husbands long working hours I only get to do it about once a week. My eating habits are also slowly reverting to bad ones! I've gone back up to 11 1/2 stone and having experienced 17 stone, I dont want to go back there! So, I've started calorie counting and I'm going to get my Wii out again as theres no excuse for not doing it, you can watch telly while you do it!

I havent managed to hit my calorie targets yet but its getting better! Good luck to you all!

Isn't it maddening?   It happens to me regularly and is very discouraging.   Sometimes my weights gets stuck or goes up for 7 - 10 days at a time, by which time I am really fed up.   But you mustn't give up on the diet !!!!!!   It is most likely to be extra water retention or something like that, and the weight will start to come off again, eventually, in its own time.    Two things to try at once - just a bit more exercise, as strenuous and intense as you can manage over 15-20 minutes twice a day, and a day or two eating minimal or zero stodgy carbs, particularly bread, any wheat products or potatoes, which are well known to retain water.   Good luck and DO NOT DESPAIR - Tamsaddle

So encouraged by this thread and can I join you please.  I am carrying far too many extra stones and would appreciate your support!!!
I've been telling myself its the extra muscle that weighs so much but that is a real stretch of the imagination.  Realistically I need to lose at least four stones plus !!! So here goes!!!

I have not let my upset put me off, Im still on the straight and narrow as quitting is NOT an option. For the second night running Ive made myself a stir fry with loads of veggies and some king prawns. The are my favourite and luckily not too expensive from Aldi! Then for pudding I had a banana sliced up with a fat free thick fromage frais on with just a teaspoon of raspberry jam for extra sweetness. That stops my craving for chocolate!!
Im seeing the doctor on Monday morning, so I will mention my weight as I normally do, and see if he can suggest something (like a gastric band! ;D )
Title: Re: Anyone want Slimming World diet help?

My friend got a gastric band fitted...£9000 she paid for it. She has lost some weight but not enough to justify £9000 in my opinion. Gone from a size 20 to a size 16 in 2years, her problem is she has made no effort to change her diet so still eating high sugar /fat foods but just less because the band makes her feel fuller quicker

She would probalby have lost that amount by eating healthily and saved herself the money.

If this goes ahead, I will join in the Tuesday after next, as for the first time in 2 years I am taking a week long holiday.   (To Italy, to ski, with a knee I have managed to twist badly 6 days ago, it having been fine throughout the 2 years I haven't been on holiday, absolutely typical).  Are we just going to disclose weight loss in the previous week, or go the whole hog, ie start weight, date, current weight, target weight, height, age??   Good luck either way and I'll be in touch again in early March - Tamsaddle

Sorry, I will NOT be revealing my weight as I am so ashamed of it, however I will be happy to weigh in on a Tuesday morning. We are getting my treadmill out later today, its been stuck under the stairs, so that I can get some gentle walking in every day. I have a problem with my legs, they are sooo heavy and my knees are playing up something rotten!! Im trying to keep as active as possible during the day but it is difficult when it hurts. At least with the treadmill, I can stop if it gets too much!!
Allen commented today that there seems to be more definition in my face today, and that my double chin had shrunk. I told him not to lie, but he said he could really notice it. . Perhaps next Tuesday wont be such a nasty shock after all!!

How about a completely new thread - no comments allowed  :eyelashes: - only a weight update?

I don't have time just now to come on and read it all, much as I love all the stories  but I could definitely put up my starting weight (would shame me into doing something), my height, and then every Tuesday morning weigh myself and put in my new weight and weight loss on my original post as an edit.  That way each of us has their own record. You then don't need to look at anyone else's posts if you don't want to or don't have the time, but it would still keep you focussed.

We could also have a separate thread for hints, suggestions, and recipes for weight loss?

Jackie, how does that sound?
Title: Re: Anyone want Slimming World diet help?

For example:

Height
5 foot 5 inches

Starting Weight
Tuesday 26th February - 15 stones 1 lb -

Weigh ins:
Tuesday 5th March  - 14 stones 12 lbs - loss 3lbs

then open your own post and use the modify button to add your next week's weight

We should move this to the diet section though I think, and ask Dan to make it private like the members section. Can a Mod speak to him for us please?
That way, when I start to lose weight, I may reveal what I weigh now!!

Mary you dont have to reveal what you weigh, no one does. :) You can just say how much you are aiming to lose every week as I did earlier. I want to lose 2lbs this week.

This weight loss journey shouldn't be embarrassing and should be fun for all. We can all do this together, swapping stories recipes and the ups and downs.

Ive really become addicted to no-fat stir fry's at the moment. Tonight, it was a right old mixture but it worked. It was lean pork chop, cubed, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, courgettes and shredded cabbage. A generous sprinkle of soy sauce and black pepper for taste and Bob's your uncle. It was lovely and very filling.

Ive been so determined and Im so single minded Im sure Im going to shift it at last, plus all the wonderful support from you lot too of course. You have done well NormandyMary, revealing your weight when it is such a big ordeal for you.
To be honest, it's not revealing my weight  that makes me cringe ( although I am suffering for the excess )it's my height that I feel people ogle at and I cannot change that.
You can change your weight and with your frame of mind I think you will do your best to achieve your goal
I have came aboard to help my health because you and others in similar frames of mind are so committed I am in a group who will not judge. And as a whole we can help and encourage each other.

One of my best friends was of a similar stature to you MS, but I really didnt think anything of it, she was my friend. She was as nutty a a fruitcake which is probably why we got on so well!! I am only 5ft if I stretch, and probably now, Im around 4'11. My mum and my nana were both smaller than me, so I think we'd be good company for each other.
It is a drawback being vertically challenged, but it does mean that I can ask tallish gorgeous frenchmen to get things down from shelves in the supermarkets!! Oh and my OH is 6'2, so we probably look funny together!

I find that I am enthusiastic when I start a diet but that soon vanished when I run out of things to cook.
How about we put some ideas down that we can all use?
Today I am making chicken caccatorie from the latest SW magazine. Basically its a chicken casserole with bits added.
Mon - salmon stir fry
Tue - remainder of Sundays dinner
Wed - Quiche of sorts - tin lined with sliced ham instead of pastry
Thur - Home made beef burgers
Fri - chicken rogan josh

That sounds a lovely menu Sally. Nice lot of variety. I bought some lovely salmon at the supermarket yesterday as it was on offer. I bought enough for 8 meals. I also have some perch in the freezer and some really thick cod, all bought when on offer otherwise I'd never afford it!
Homemade beefburgers are lush. They are OH's favourite, I do my own version of MaccyD's for him with them, especially now that Ive found a burger sauce just like theirs, from Aldi. They will be a thing of the past for me now!
Happy dieting Sally, good luck!

Jackie..If you buy mince over here, you ask for it at the butchers counter, they then get a lump of beef out infront of you, they trim it of any visible fat, then they put it through the mincer for you. Its not cheap by any means, but then there is NO waste at all. I feel quite safe making syn free burgers from our mince any day of the week!!!

Im sure yours are just as lush as mine. I only put the mince, a little finely chopped onion, a couple of oxo cubes black pepper and an egg in. I have one of those burger makers from Lakeland so they are kept in waxed paper in the freezer. I make a load (around 20 or so) at once to save time.

Done this a bit backward and joined the other thread first.

Started trying to lose weight at the start of this month. Got fed up with being classed as obese, clothes not fitting and seeing a friend who has lost so much weight really inspired me. I'm also getting married in June and going on honeymoon next Jan so would be good to look better and feel healthier.

Have just been counting calories using myfitnesspal (Danscrazycatlady) seems to be really working so far. I tend to fall off diets very quickly as I hate restricting what I eat, and hate not comfort eating. But this diet doesn't care what I eat as long as I stay under calories, and sometimes I have bad days and go over but its ok. Really seems to be working for me.

I went to the doctors this morning for a variety of reasons but of course I mentioned my weight and lack of loss!! He took it seriously and listened which was lovely. He has given me a prescription for a variety of blood tests just to see if there is a cause I may not know about, and he has given me a month of fluid retention tablets. Ive already peed about 6 times since I got back and my fingers feel better already!! I did weigh myself first thing on my brand new scales, which also have it in for me like the old ones. I told the doctor and he weighed me on his. I was several kilos less on his but mine must be right, so he has recorded it on the computer. Its the first time Ive let him weigh me, so he knows Im serious. HE knows why I have to lose it, I told him the other evening. Ill give you a clue. :knit:

All the best with the weight loss sounds like your doctor is listening to you.  I have had an underactive thyroid for over 15 years and last year could not stop craving and overeating mainly just proper food like meat and vegetables, when I saw my gp she gave me a blood test and my thyroid had become worse.  Its now sorted and stable just to encourage you.   Hopefully there will be a simple reason for you.  Wishing you all the best.

That's wonderful news, Mary. Congratulations. Is this your first?  Grandchildren are just so special.  Lots of knitting to do then.  I, too, have an underactive thyroid which started when I was pregnant with my eldest (it's quite common for times of unsettled hormones to trigger it). the medication is supposed to take the place of what you would naturally produce but it is still incredibly difficult to lose weight.  I also have fluid retention so have my tiddle tablets.  I have been known to lose half a stone simply by being in bed for three days.  Keep your feet up as often as you can, and when I say up, they should be level with your hips at the very least.

Hi
Thanks goatwoman - I was encouraged that you find it difficult to lose weight too with the thyroid problem.  I think its fluid too so I will take your advice and sit with my feet up!!!  Weighed this morning and still the same weight so depressing!!! Still another week and another weigh!!!  Well done everyone who has lost weight this time!!

Jackie!  You're supposed to be setting us a good example.

I fogot to weigh this morning.  TBH Tuesday is not a good day - not just for weighing but for anything.  The meds I take on a Monday evening make me feel very sick and giddy for all of Tuesday, going into Wednesday.  It tends to be the only thing I can think of.  On the other hand, it is probably a good day to weigh as I have to eat every couple of hours during the day to help conteract the nausea.

Doesn't matter which day you weigh in so long as it's the same day each week and the same time if possible.

I'm chuffed - just updated my weight.

Just weighed in, nothing this week :( I've started the two day fasting diet, going to have tues and thurs as my fasting days so today is the first day and it is hard! I'm hoping it gets easier the longer you do it but I am really hungry! I'm counting the minutes until lunch time! lol

If anyone has any tips for coping with fasting days let me know!

Clarebelle,
Why are you fasting? You shouldn't need to do that. I have plenty to eat and am loosing weight. It doesn't stop me fancying things of course but it itsn't out of hunger.

Im feeling as rough as a badgers bum at the moment Bionic. It feels like Ive got a cold coming. We went to see our friends the other night as they had brought us some things back from the UK. Turns out that they have now gone down with nasty colds and coughs and Im wondering if they've given it to me too. I haven't got the time to be ill, Ive got so much to do and we have 2 medical appointments this week aswell. I managed to get a nice beef hotpot on the woodburner which is ready now, so tea will be quick and easy tonight, then early bed. Ive already had a 2 hour sleep this afternoon as my head is like a lead balloon!

Well, after weeks of faffing around and quite honestly eating things I shouldn't and not feeling great, Im back on the straight and narrow starting today. I went shopping yesterday and bought loads of healthy low fat stuff as OH is joining me on this epic marathon. To be honest, he too has put on so much weight since he has been out of hospital, as his mobility is quite limited, but he has been eating too much. My fault probably for dishing it up, but when he is down in the dumps, food is one of the main things that cheers him up. Its a vicious circle isn't it?
Anyway, its a lovely sunny warm day today, and we have had some major improvement work done to our lounge making it look fantastic (even though the bank account will be loads lighter!) and I seem to have a bit more energy at last. So its a good time to bite the bullet and get going again.
How is everyone else getting on, or has the terrible weather we have just endured put an end to your efforts...be brave and reveal all!!

I dropped off the band wagon  :'( :'( :'( - no particular reason but I've gone back up again. :gloomy:

But tomorrow is another day and the start of another week.  Bought a FR chicken the other day and now I have four meals in the freezer, also bought cook in the bag vegetables so tonight's dinner is sorted.  Has to be an early one as I'm front of house at Stirling City Choir concert tonight at the Holy Rude Church, so will take a freezer meal out once I've checked today's emails.

Im a bit of a fishaholic which is a good thing, and luckily yesterday at the supermarket they had trout filets and salmon filets on offer. I like to alternate between fish and chicken for my dinner each night, with either salad or veggies. Also bought a lovely tray of strawberries (1kg) as they too were on offer. Add them to the other frozen  berries we love at the moment for our puddings, we should be as fit as fleas very soon!

I've just put my vital stats (!) on the weight loss thread...has to be done, achey feet, knees, shoulders!

I lost a stone with WW last year and it has stayed off.  OH went away on Friday for a few days and I have just gone mad with binging - hopeless.  So today back on track - I am using My fitness Pal for calorie counting which is really helpful and free....

I am also (don't laugh) using some visualisation techniques at night - I have a pic of me at 35 and 10 stone which I try and '''see" in my head and think of being that size, feeling the good feelings I would feel if I were. Can't hurt and might help.

So far so good today - 5/6pm is my worst time.

Ive got a picture of how I'd like to be on the front of my fridge. I wasn't at my lightest, I know that there is no way on God's earth I'd ever get down to that again, but it was a weight that I was comfortable at and was able to wear any clothes I wanted. I just sigh every time I look at it!

So far so good on the diet with us both. OH keeps saying he's hungry, but to be honest, he's eating just as much as normal, only low fat and with no snacks between meals, just fruit. I made some lovely mince last night with loads of tomatoes, onions and a few peas OH had it on boiled rice and I had pasta. Both are perfectly acceptable on the Slimming World diet. Breakfast this morning was scrambled egg, with ryvitas for me and wholemeal toast for Allen. Feeling nice and full, it will keep us going till lunchtime no problem.

I may be a bit late with this one but can I join? I have been following this thread and found it inspirational. I learned I was diabetic in early February and have been trying hard to get fitter ever since - long overdue as I have steadily put on weight ever since having children (and they are 20 and 23 now!). I need to be fitter not just for my health but in preparation for moving on to our smallholding; hopefully in the next two months. I am eating healthier (mostly anyway) and go swimming most mornings. So far I have lost over two stone (about two and a half from my heaviest) with another four to go. It seems like such a log way! MGM It's wonderful that you are now diabetes free. I hope for the same result eventually. I am sure the support on here will be a great help.

Welcome Waddy. Its never too late to join anything and if we can help to inspire you then all the better!!
Trying to decide on tonight's tea. Think it will be a small gammon steak with some pineapple (fresh) plus veggies and new potatoes for Allen to fill him up. For pudding, Ive lightly stewed some redcurrants I was given last week, with stevia which we will have with fat free fromage frais.
Going to the local market tomorrow to stock up on extra fruit and veg. I do have to be careful with Allen though as he has to limit green vegs due to the vitamin K.
Feeling confident still though, and very positive.
Well done Plums by the way, excellent loss. Im just a bit jealous!!

When you've done ten posts, you become a full member so it doesn't take long.  Then you can get onto the members' page.  Good luck with your diabetes free target.  I used to swim with someone who is no longer diabetic due to the exercise and some weight loss, so it can be done.

Not brilliant with food, but not having more than 2000cals a day even when being bad.  The big news is that I finally got the bike out and pedalled up the road and back!  So, if I can do that every day, going a bit further each time I'll be really pleased.  Usually I'd try to do 5 miles in one go, feel rubbish, fat and unfit and not do it again...this time slowly slowly!

Still going well, its day 5 for me, 4 for OH. Had 2 slices wholemeal toast with marmite for brekkies, I normally shy away from toast, but my friend was coming early to cut my hair. Had the remnants of last night's salad with a slice of ham for lunch, just about to have some fruit as Im peckish. I haven't decided on dinner yet, probably chicken and vegetables.

I have started getting an interest in clothes all of a sudden and have bought a few bits, plus Im putting make-up on more these days which really makes me feel better about myself. I have so many clothes in my wardrobe, never worn that I am determined to get into and look great in.

I think I need to lose about 3 stones before I can comfortably wear most of the clothes in my cupboard. I'd love to do it by the end of the year, cos all being well THIS time, I will have to go over to the UK to meet a new member of the family!! :fc:

I think its John, Anyway, if you are serious about the diet then the bread and butter has to go I'm afraid. You don't need to cut it out completely but at every meal won't work. Not in between meals either  :roflanim:
I like my red wine too but limit it to a couple of glasses on Friday and Sat and it doesn't seem to do any harm.

I've not only fallen by teh wayside or off the wagon, I've also put more back on.  I'm a bit depressed just now so that's probably why.  No particular reason, just that bad parts of my life keep popping into my head and I can't seem to stop them at the minute. :'( :-[
I DID weigh myself yesterday morning, and I DID watch my intake yesterday and today.
Walking the dogs an hour and a half every day has never helped - I've done that all my life, and right now I'm barely fit for that.

I thought about joining a local walking group but I can't walk any distance and they don't allow dogs so I'd still have to take the hounds out - so even once I was up to speed that would be 5 hours walking a day - i Just don't have time for that.
It's just all too much just now, and I can't see a way out.  I know all the cliches of a day at a time, an hour at a time etc etc. :gloomy:

I am not dieating at the moment but should, last week all I wanted to do was sleep and my joints felt rusty and bolted together, never sure what it is but I felt too ill to go across to see the Dr, anyway, my point is, when you are not 100% diets go out the window, mind you, this week, I do not want to sleep and my joints are not too bad, I have gone off food, but then eat the wrong stuff...(never go off sweets or crisps) once we sell up I will get a handle on it all.......some times depressive moods take over and lack of sunshine does not help!!

John, I am following the slimming world diet (sort of), although don't go to a meeting. I have some books from old that I use and get the magazine from the supermarket.
I find the main thing for me is planning. If I know in advance what I am going to make for dinner then it gets a bit easier. There really isn't anything on this diet that you can't have. Its just about being more careful with some things than others.
Tonights dinner is ham, eggs and chips (slimming world chips), followed by stewed plum and rhubarb with yogurt.
