What do you recon as a first loom?
-
Nicely made and good to use I gather. Limited to what you can do as the weaving width is only 8". The Kromski 24", as an example, is only another £30.
Kromski looms (http://spinwise.co.uk/?page_id=1485)
The 10 dent heddle will take sock wool, the 8 dent one will take double knitting wool.

I just love the look of those looms. Just off now to sweet talk OH. He hasn't got me a Christmas present yet.
-
OH thinks it is a good price. Has anyone on here tried one? Might ask on Ravelry as well.
A few years ago I was given dozens of cones of yarn, mostly four ply and it would be ideal for scarves.
-
There's some talk on Ravelry of them not being great to tension. But plenty of people weave with them.
-
Hmmm, tension is important. I'll have to look on Ravelry for the comments.
-
Heard rumors about tensioning issues? Fear not -- I installed a second set of pawls and ratchets on the loom before word got out about the faulty plastic parts, AND I have a new and uninstalled set of newly-Kromski-approved pawls and ratchets (= 3 sets). I currently have zero tensioning issues and have successfully woven a set of cotton towels and a few wool scarves on this loom with the double ratchet-pawl set-up.
This is what I read, from someone in the US who was selling one.

Brilliant, thanks. It looks like it's going to be a Komski then. It is what the rachets and pawls are made from that makes the difference as anyone who's ever tried a Weavemaster four shaft loom will tell you.
