Title: Goat girls getting ready for our new billy boer
Post by: Castlehill Farm on November 09, 2012, 08:36:39 pm

We are about to put our new pedigree boer goat Grason ( who came from Bristol ) in with our 11 girls ( 6 boer X & 5 saanen )and start a new herd up here in the Northeast of Scotland.
We take Grason for a walk past our girls everyday just to keep both parties interested which is fun most mornings!

We keep our girls out side all the time with their winter coats coming in real good and have just done a pedicure to the whole herd ( this being the first time with goats ) and will do full vaccinations the turn of the week ready for the big day next week.

We are looking forward to kidding next year with our daughter of 6 and son of 3.

Hope all goes well for you

How old are all your ladies?

I'd be interested to know what you are vaccinating them with at this point.

We are a little late but we are to use lambivac 4 in1 which is licensed for goats and also as this was used by the last owner of some of our girls.

We can vaccinate again 2 -4 weeks before the girls are to kid, every 6 months for booster.

Our girls are 18, 30, 42 & 54 months.

If you are not sure if all of them had had the doube dose of Lambivac before - I would double-dose ALL of them again. You could plan it to be done before they are due to kid, just do the first dose a bit earlier and the second one 3-2 weeks before kidding.
