My pigs have ticks. Are there any products people recommend to get rid of the little bleeders.
-
Yes there is, either leave them alone they will eventually drop off naturally or you can smother with vaseline/alcohol then prise then off with tweezers, you will get different views but you can pull off the body leaving the legs and head behind which can then become infected or you might squeeze the innards of the tick into the pigs bloodsteam! personally if theres only 1 or 2 I'd leave them alone, but I'm sure some would disagree. Hope this helps.

Thanks for prompt reply. After studying my enemy closer I realise that they are actually lice and not ticks so any one got any advice on lice

Hold a something hot behind them and they jump out, small cigars work quite well!
-
I'd recommend injecting them with a wormer like dectomax or noromectin, they protect against internal and external parasites.

Hello,
The one and only time (thus far) that we've had a pig with lice we promptly treated it with Spot-On. No problems since.
Cheers

In my experience young tamworths are the most affected, very large hippopotami X seem never to get them ;D ;D
