Title: Why are we ayeskint?
Post by: Ayeskint on February 22, 2008, 07:03:00 pm
Hello folks, we are Graham and Carol and live on a smallholding in Fife.  Graham gave up the rat race to look after our growing menagerie, and I still work in an office and dream of earning an income from our place.  We have around 13 acres, one 3 acre field and the rest is woodland and rough grazing.  We have a wide range of feathered friends (hens, ducks, geese), wooly friends (shetlands & mules), some thick skinned friends (tamworth pigs), and some stinging friends (bees). We also grow our own fruit and veg and make jams and chutneys.

Apart from walking our dogs, and enjoying the wildlife, there isn't much time or money left for anything else!  Still you can't beat eating a meal that contains everything you have grown or bred yourself,  finding the first snowdrop, or watching the sheep have a mad half hour.

absolutely right - we still both work , but all the little things you take time to look at , see and be a part of are worth more than pounds shillings and pence - life is all about living!

Couldn't agree more........and soooooo satisfying when, as you say, all that stuff on your plate has been reared/grown by yourselves.
Welcome to this fab site.   :)

No matter what is going on in life or at work, a couple of hours at the farm makes everything seem so much better!  :D

We are in Stirlingshire & Glasgow

Welcome.
