Title: Bit of a rant
Post by: The Woodsiders on September 28, 2012, 10:12:45 pm
Is it me becoming a miserable old g-t, worked hard today and thought I would take the afternoon off, so my OH and I went off to do the shopping early, walking through the precinct a young lady so busy texting whilst walking cannoned into me, no apology, next saw the bus queue held up while a mother was trying to get off with a baby in a pushchair noticed she still had her mobile glued to her ear talking to someone no thanks to her helpers, then to the supermarket, wating in line, lady in front making hand signals to the assistamt to get her lottery ticket, noticed her talking on the mobile did not say a word to the assistant and walked away still speaking, how bloody rude. Have manners gone out of the window? but then something to cheer me up, a young man in the DIY shop I went into overhead my OH and me wondering where something we wanted was, sorry to eavesdrop said he its over here and then took us there and advised us as to the best product to do what we wanted, a glimmer of sunshine in a miserable day. Rant over.

No it's not just you, we got off the plane at Manchester, tired, after a long haul flight, we had a long drive home to look forward to. We had to stand behind a bloke who was so important he had to 'phone somebody and tell them he was at passport control.
Try getting on a train that breaks down, after about 10 mins. the 'phone calls start as one by one your fellow passengers ring various people to tell them the train has broken down!

Sat in the doctor's waiting room while a small child ran riot.  Every ten minutes or so, his mother stopped texting long enough to say, "Pack it in." before her finger was going again.  Surprise surprise, the child ignored her.

I know why I hate the bl**dy things... I have one, for emergencies only. Very few people have my number, and they know to use it only in emergencies. Went off my head once when somebody texted me "I've just sent you an email". Argh!!!!! Well, dear, you know I'm at work and I can't do anything about it!

I hate mobile phones too.  Yes, they are great for emergencies but they are also turning us into a rude society.
Get some manners and talk to people face to face

My daughter actually sent me a text to ask me to get her Mum to phone her......we were in the same house  :roflanim:   :roflanim:  Funny now right enough...

Also, I was in a supermarket packing my shopping into bags, and while the assistant was waiting for me to finish packing, she started to read my newspaper that I had just paid for !!!!...I asked her if there was anything interesting in it and she tutted and folded it up and threw it down...quality...

VF, I understood perfectly what you meant and agree with you. It's the old story of use versus abuse :)

Driving through a narrow lane just now I pulled in to allow a big new Disco through.  The driver gave me a big smile and a wave - while her other hand held the mobile phone she was talking into :o

I've banned them from the table, i go absolutely bonkers at the kids if they answer their mobiles at the table whilst we are eating. they've learnt to leave them in their bags or coats until the meal is over, and they're all grown up too, so i don't think there is any excuse.
