Is it me, or is there a shortage of tomato plants this year. Of course it may be that I now live in Ireland, but I just can't find any anywhere all I see is cabbages and brussels and I am growing them from seed

I didn't bother with plants - grew mine from seed and have LOADS of packets of seeds unopened, of all veggies.

i think my toms are a bit leggy, i might be buying a couple of toms myself in a few weeks. we'll see.
but i've seen plenty on sale over here.

Some enthusiasts are offering here in the local paper ads from 25 - 40 p a plant. I usually grow from seed but this year they didn't germinate (blame the loo rolls) :&>

I must be lucky for mine are coming on well, I grew them from seed but they are now in the pollytunnel :)

I just discovered that where I tried to start off beans early not a single bean is actually making it (next year straight in the ground again) but a few tomato seeds must have germinated in my own compost! - I will have green tomatoes for chutney after all. :&>

Last year we were over-run with tomato plants when I started them from seed, but I was a bit late with them and very few ripened (lovely chutney tho'!). This year I decided to just buy a few plants... and can I find any locally?? (Just a few very mangy ones in a local supermarket). Will try the garden centre in stranraer later this week.
