Can anyone recommend a good pig feed for weaners please? Additive free and wholesome is what I am looking for ......
A UK supplier might also be helpful. Sorted a trailer - thanks to those of you who advised. Found a good one on ebay which should serve a number of purposes, not cheap but very useful and resellable when we no longer need it (if ever)

Sally I think Hobson and Dorrel used to do an organic pig food. Quite expensive though. Pleased you have the trailer thats really good news.

We use Allen and Page Rare and Traditional Breeds Weaner Finisher pellets. They are GM free but not organic. The Organic Feed Company, another branch of Allen and Page, do organic pellets.
The Allen and Page website has lists of stockists, I think.

yes I did thank you. (I thought I had replied but I've been all over the place in the last few days) I am acquiring two Ox Sandy and Blacks from Herefordshire at the beginning of April. I would love two GOS as well but understand we have to introduce them at the same time otherwise they will fight. Is this true? If this is then I have a co-ordination task on my hands! Any thoughts?
We are all ready - food ordered, Arc installed, (just water and hay left to sort), pig course this Saturday!
The chickens arrived last week and seem to be settling in well. I would be more relaxed if the spaniel wasn't circling their pen like a wild thing licking his lips! They don't seem bothered however but it will be a while before I can let them go free range I think.
It's all go! ???

and then the fun begins. my pigs are now definitely going off on thursday morning to be processed. I shall then have a short spell tidying up, then i will have two more.( probabley three as i get carried away). you'll have to let us all know how you get on with the os&b's . I have had very little trouble with the gos, but would like a bit of diversity next.( might even go for a xbred) . what chooks have you got?

Hybrids - Rhode Island red/Maran and 'ginger ones'! (rhode Island red crossed with Light Sussex)
The 'ginger ones' show the strength of character at the moment. i would like a white one to mix it up - apparently leghorns are popular..... I need layers but aesthetics are important too! ;D

You may have noticed I had a change of heart re the OX sandy and blacks - mainly because they were over two hours away and practicality got the better of me. I will have the three GOS this time round and see how we get on. Would love some of Blinkers Berkshire too - is five too many?

Doubt they will hang around for long. Have you tried advertising on River Cottage web site? They have a virtual farmer's market section.

Hi HM - yes I have but no interest so far. I'll put an advert in the Farmers Guardian soon and in the local Friday-Ad. I think there are a lot of weaners around at the moment :-\

I got myself a couple of Gos weaners now 41/2 months & 1 castrated Mangalitsa boy of 9 months, today in the sunshine they were all playing chase me, chase me, in & out the pig arc & around the pen it was so lovely to watch them all playing together ;D
