Title: Llama feet trimming
Post by: Lostlambs on July 15, 2012, 01:21:14 pm
I am looking for tips on trimming feet for a llama. I have a 3 year old male in with my sheep that I got last year and my shearer is coming to do the flock. He will shear the llama but hasn't done their feet so I will do that. I trim the sheep feet so am hoping they are similiar to do. Thanks

My farrier has trimmed Llamas. Mind you he hasn't had any special training for it!

I was at a llama conference (don't ask!!) and the lady there demo'd clipping horizontally with the foot flat on the floor, just nipping away teeny bits from the underneath. Apparently they kick too fast and hard to risk faffing about.

Think you are best to lay them on their side as you do for shearing.
