Forgot to say ....this is Dollylane Dominic, and his mum, Heather!! (Fell pony)
Heather is only small - 12.2.hh at the most. I must admit, I got a bit worried as she was enormous even two months ago, and got bigger by the day. I assume those long legs are curled up, but it must have been hard work for Heather in all that heat we had, to lug him round all day and night :) And for those who have never seen the afterbirth from a foal/calf - she would have that weight too. Believe me, heaving all that into a bucket, and carrying it up the field was enough for me, without the foal as well!!
Foals cannot reach the floor with their neck for the first day or two, so they tend to bend their long legs outwards to enable them to sniff the grass.
