Title: Accommodation
Post by: Bert on June 06, 2012, 07:59:15 am
I want it to be September now so I can go to the Scottish Smallholder & Grower Festival. Can anybody recommend a B&B? anything up to an hour / hour and a half away from the show would be fine, as lots of places closer are probably already booked. I know there is the link on the official web site, but I thought I would ask on here in case there are any locals with inside knowledge  :eyelashes: . The B&B is for me and the other half, as we are restricted by ferry time tables we have to be on the main land the day before the show,so we can get there for the very start ;D .

Some of the people on our last smallholding course (http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/smallholding/courses/introduction-to-smallholding/) stayed here and said it was really nice:

This is where i would highly reccommend and is where i will be staying (they may not know yet) as its my uncles house.  They do B&B, and have two holiday cottages, and i'm sure, for this event they won't be adverse to the odd extra person.  My uncle works away so my cousin Lynnette runs the house, but Uncle is trying to arrange to be home for the festival as its right up their street.  Oh, and this is defo the place to stay for anyone who likes Llama's.

My next door neighbour has a B & B - very clean, tidy, modern house. Maybe a bit far as we are just short of
an hour and  a half, but here's Marilyn and Neil's website  if anyone is interested. http://www.taighlusnambansith.webeden.co.uk/ (http://www.taighlusnambansith.webeden.co.uk/)

okay so its not a B & B, but it is free
If anyone is looking for a more "rustic" experience, we live just outside forfar (i.e. 10 minutes in the car), we are in the process of renovating our place so its pretty basic but if anyone would like some floor space or a bit of grass to put up a tent, you would be more than welcome to come visit.  We also have plenty of barns (some even have roofs!) so if you need some accommodation for any pets you are bringing then that can be sorted as well.

We also run a B & B from our smallholding.

Based in South Lanarkshire but this would provide a good stop over for those travelling afar.

We can offer discount to TAS members visiting the show.  Please see the website for more details.
