Title: Kune Kune's for meat?

Are KK's more of a pet pig, or can they be a meat pig, and if so, are they any good?

There will be others who disagree  ::) but I think they're a good pork producer.
They'll take longer to reach slaughter size (around 10-12 months old) - but the plus point is they don't eat as much (1 lb of hard feed per day and plenty of grass to roam in)
They'll not do the same damage to your land as bigger pigs and they are incredibly easy to manage and a real pleasure to keep (charming little pigs !) and the pork is great fantastic :thumbsup:  :yum:
They so often get written off as being too fatty to be any good, but I've got to say that it's down to the feeding - so isn't really their fault  ;)

Deee-licious!
My three were VERY small when they "went" but the flavour is just fantastic.
And they are lovely little pigs, smart and a joy to keep & watch....
(Beware not to get too attached! they are naturally very affectionate)

mmmm thank you.  I have heard they don't mess the land as much as they are more grazers than diggers.  My first two lots of pigs I never got attached to, but maybe if KK's are this cute, it might be a bad idea to get some, mmmmm what to do, what to do..... ??? :pig: ;D

I wouldn't bamk on them NOT messing the land ...
they do eat grass, sure.
And have relatively small (cute button) noses...

but they can dig bloomin' big holes even so!!

Ours currently have an ornamental pond where they've dug a big hole, and its rained every day for a coulple of weeks!
I've had to make them a bridge!

I'm not that bothered about the land, it's fine for them to churn it up, within their enclosure :)
