Post by: holz306 on April 27, 2012, 07:33:25 pm
Northern Constabulary are looking for anyone to come forward with any information regarding the theft of 42 pigs, and 3 tonnes of feed  :o  from a farm Near Evanton, which is on the Dingwall - Invergordon road i believe.  See Northern constabs website for more details

so they will just be keeping them a month then and maybe better looked after than when the right owner was looking after them :farmer:

I get the impression from other articles i've read that the pigs weren't stolen in one go, but a couple taken at a time, as they were taken "through-out march" - i could be wrong though.

Yes, i read it also that hte pigs were taken throughout March, the person checking on these pigs will have known if there was any missing, or is it a disgruntaled worker getting there own back on their employer.  ???

I think the owner may be telling porkies here  2 taken at a time?. Sure it would be difficult to go the whole hog and  pinch 42 in one go but 21 visits to the scene of a crime is a bit much - I would have thought the police could have done a steak out and given the thieves the chop. They could have loin in wait for them!

Very good - these made me smile  ;D

But the case of the missing pigs is baffling  :-\ No way anyone would get the chance of more than one theft from me - we'd start sleeping in the shed  ;) :o :D

Thats becuase, Happyhippy, you are a tender loining pig keeper
I think the old ham who kept the pigs should shoulder the blame and be put through the mincer, Lets hope that some brawny farmer will bring home the bacon on this one

Very fishy, how can you not notice your pigs are missing.  :o

Yes, we have a good word for that north of the border, its 'glaikit'.  Some people don't give a tamworth about their livestock and wouldn't realise if the whole hog were swiped from under their snout. :pig:

i suppose if they had 400 or more they might not notice? ???

if glakit had a lot of pigs i could see how he would not notice for a while but they must have have been taking the feeding piecemeal as well :farmer:

The thing is, you'd notice (even one pig going missing) and you'd do something about it......... wouldn't you ?
Wee CCTV cameras cost less than £100 or if you really were totally skint you'd be sleeping in the shed !
There is something weird about it  :-\

all thefts are weird and the subsequent police involvement is weird   :farmer:

Perhaps the pigs did a "great escape"! Every day a few pigs left, carrying some feed, and leaving dummy pigs in their place!
Could be the sequel to "Chicken run" ;D

Even with commercial herds we always have feed charts with the number and type of pigs in each paddock, so an accurate count is done every day at feeding. I have charts for the smaller rare breeds and wild boar here as well.
The only thefts I have had to date have been batteries for the fencing units, with so many visitors to the farm, and several well used paths, there is ample opportunity for the dishonest community to plan minor raids.
