Several inches of sleet and snow, blowing a gale, and absolutely freezing. Otherwise fine!

Surprisingly no rain in Carmarthenshire either.  We could do with a bit.

Started as mizzle & drizzle this morning but is now steady 'soft' rain which thankfully gives it time to soak into the ground instead of a flood that just runs off. ideal for me as sowed & rolled the paddocks at the weekend so if it stays mild they should soon be looking green. Now 10 degrees.

We are desperate for rain too. After what seems weeks of blue sky since the big freeze and snow we have clouds today. My water containers are empty and I hate paying for water to use on the garden - I'm walking back and forward to the trickle of a stream! given the crazy weather i bet we have flooding next week.

ooops ( in the Limousin France)

Our ground was very dry so the snow will help a bit, the grass was coming on fine then 5 days of cold wind and its back to winter. Lucky for me I had not started work in the pollytunnel. I still have winter cabbage and lettuce but as yet no seeds growing.

Well they forecasted storms and  heavy rain for today (Limousin France) BUT still no rain and a drying wind in the sun. Had to water the garden again and the ducks water looks terrible.
can anyone send a link that shows me how to do a rain dance.

Now we have a forecast of dry with sun until a risk of storms ( risque d'orages  ;D ) on Wednesday. Same as last weeks forecast that was wrong.
Fortunately I can get water from a stream still as the spring is just above us. I have taken to try and water a bit of the dust bowl left by our last pigs in the hope that something will grow for the pigs that arrive in a few weeks.Farmers are delivering water to their cattle down the road here - I would rather see the village turn out to herd the cattle into the lake from where theyare taking water. That would be a site as the old lady on a crutch is normally the supervisor when the move cattle from field to field past our door.

Thanks for that ChairmanPhil - grass at our back door is dead hanging on in the dust - the stream is just a trickle and I am fed up of carrying watercans.
On the plus side i am collecting loads of dry fire wood and T shirts don't take much washing or drying in the sun.

Yes - we had some - a few showers ! So pleased until I tried to dig up a leek for dinner - still can't get a spade in the ground and dust fell off the roots when I hit it. Think we need a few days worth.

so since i started this thread it has only stopped raining for about 10 minutes! it looks like it might be floods now. oh it would be funny if it wasn't so worrying! couldn't be better for the garden though. everything has shot up but that means the weeds have too!

This year we seem so far to have got the timing about right for spraying and re-seeding the pasture.  I even got round with the slitter so the rain that's now falling should be going properly into the ground.   Last year was the opposite: we had two fields re-seeded in April only to have two and a half months with no rain and they stayed brown.
