Title: Willow Weaving Books / online resources
Post by: Goldcraig on February 25, 2012, 07:41:52 am
I saw pictures of toadstools made out of willow and thought they were fantastic. Can any advise a good book / online resource for willow basket / sculpture weaving?

I think I made a wicker basket in school.......might want to try again...cheers

Hi Goldcraig

The book that everyone recommends is Handmade Baskets by Susie Vaughan which is not just willow but talks about all sorts of hedgerow materials as well as techniques etc. it's good and straightforward diagrams of the different weaves.

A good website is here: http://www.jonsbushcraft.com/basicbasket.htm (http://www.jonsbushcraft.com/basicbasket.htm)

There are lots of resources online if you google "willow basket weaving" including video tutorials on YouTube
