I share 7 black rock hybrids with a pal. They are almost 3 years old and naturally enough egg production has slowed. I would be interested to know what sort of egg numbers we could expect this spring and summer. They started laying again after Christmas and we have had about a dozen eggs in January.

We'd like to get enough eggs for both households and this might mean adding to the flock by 2 or 3 this spring. I'm interested in identifying each girls laying rate. They are free range but I have a second hand eglu for emergencies. I thought that this spring I could put each girl in for a week. So I need 7 leg rings of varying colours in order to id individuals. But I can only buy them by the 100s.
Will anyone sell me 7 x 16mm leg rings of varying colours. Even if only 4 or 5 colours That would do as there is some variation in their plumage.

I have bought them through e=bay. Pick the buyer carefully and they will pick out the colours that you prefer.

Hi Izzy. As none of our 4 Black Rocks laid past 2 years or lived past 3 years I would be guessing about egg production. Have a friend with two just over 3 years and they are still laying occasionally, but it is Winter. Based on my experience I would work on nothing from the 3 year olds and then be pleasantly surprised if you got some.
