Title: grrrr (again.... think i'm becoming paranoid)
Post by: manian on October 19, 2011, 06:14:04 pm
woke up this morning, went out to go to work and heard one of the turkeys calling...... (unusal) hubby had just got up and was just light so we went down to find one of the bobettes in the christmas turkey paddock ???
i called back to OH and said he didn't check them all in and left one out last night!!!!! ::)

well when i got nearer i wish that was all :o
someone had opened the breeding turkey shed (where bob and his 5 bobettes stay) and let them out, they then bungeed the door so it was ajar..... not wide enough for them to get out but enough for fox to get in.
we found 2 girls dead in the paddock and bob had flown over the sheep field and was dead there.....one dead in shed,. just 2 girls left, one in the shed looking stressed and the one calling outside :'(
am soo cross and am now wondering if when the fox came last time and i thought i left the door open (although thought i had shut it) it killed my eating chickens......
we was that sabbotage,,,,,
well off to get some CCTV equipment, any suggestions
also need another stag and some new girls... anyone know where i can get some from near derby

Aldi today ,colour cctv camera £19:99p  we got one this morning ,all you need is an old colour tv with a scart socket.  At the moment it is pitch black outside  but the camera is giving me a super infra red image for a good 50foot down our driveway .

Given the forseeable consequences of this (which sadly happened), I would be reporting it to the police? Do you think it is 'just' vandals or targeted? The bungee thing worries me, did they bring it or was it there and they just used it?

the bungee was there
we use it to stop the door flinging shut in the wind during the day
will let police know

Manian...i have a single turkey bobette - you can have her for nowt...just give her a good home. She is fairly content here as she sort of fancies the cockeral, but I would like her to go to a good turkey populated home. Shes a Naragansatt (sp??)

This is our setup with the monitor between our pooters we don't miss anything moving on the driveway , and as one of us is nearly always in the office any movement catches your eye.

Definitely report this to the police.  Trespass is Civil, but Criminal Damage (that's what this is) is a police matter.

You have to wonder what someone has got out of doing this?  My life is way too busy to think about stitching someone up.

My husband has suggested putting a sign on one of our gates (just off Public footpath, so walkers open it up and plonk themselves on the bench) saying "Beware of Land Mines.  Go on, try it.  See if we're kidding"

I havent put it up as thankfully we dont have any problems, but have a sign (as we have a Doberman) with a pic of a Dobie which says ' Please remove all keys, coins, plastics and metals from your person before proceeding, as I find these indigestible' :-))))

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D That's funny Lachlandmarcus

Both the neighbouring houses on my track have all of a sudden got big signs outside saying "Warning CCTV in operation"....... I'm thinking of making one up that says "We don't have CCTV, but when you meet our big dog you'll understand WHY we don't need it"  :D

I do find it completely sickening that someone would deliberately tamper with stock or their accommodation  >:( Shows a complete lack of respect of others property and is downright inexcusable.
I'm with the others Manian - report it to the police, it's got to be taken seriously.

How awful  :( Accidents happen but terrible to think it was deliberate.

Sounds like a scrote  casing the places and then stealing to order and moving the goods on quick so as not to get caught with them.
Small padlocks and working battery shed alarms are the order of the day

Those warning signs about dogs , mines etc etc... could land you in immense trouble yourselves .

In this protet the perpetrator at all costs mad society of do-gooders .....If you have a sign that indicates you have an animal or some thing that could harm someone and it does you will get shafted well and truly for the weaselworders have made it in effect mean i know I have a dangerous animal and I don't care if you can't read or are ESN .

Same with setting traps that may injure or kill ... you're on a loser big time and could end up doing several years as a guest of Her maJ.

I have, somewhere! details of a padlock with a built in alarm that, if touched when activated sets off a shrill alarm. This would, at least, set the dogs barking and, hopefully make any intruder scarper.
I will search through the piles of papers, debris etc. that is my office/filing cabinet a.k.a. the dining table and see if I can find it.
You could, without leaving yourself open to prosecution, put up signs saying e.g. "Please ensure gate is secured, my dogs are free-ranging"
Good luck to you and bad luck to whoever is responsible!!

That's what I did as soon as I moved her - because it's true and i don't want them out on the road!  Some of our posties used to throw the letters in over the fence till I explained just how dangerous my dogs really are  - they might lick him to death!  ;D

We got a good gate sign free from the NFU its says something along the lines of " You dog can upset or scare livestock, please keep it on a lead at all times, if animals approach you let go of the lead and move away from your dog to a safe distance." anyway it seems to have done the trick we haven't had any trouble with walkers et al this summer, they've given the heifers & Angus a very wide berth and kept their dogs under control. We now have 20 pregnant ewes(due to lamb at Xmas) joined the heifers (Angus had gone back to farm) and they're all roaming across the acres betwen ours and our neighbours with very little interference.
