Title: Feeding hay to sheep
Post by: Rosemary on October 22, 2007, 08:03:26 pm
I'm sure we will have to supplement our sheeps' diet with hay in winter. I thought we could just tie a couple of hay nets to the fence. Anybody see any problems with this? There are only three sheep and I was going to use two hay nets.

Not a sheep person, so this logic is from horse keeping.  Do your sheep have horns, if so they could get caught in the hay net.  If not, tie the hay net so that it will not drop down and allow the sheep to get their heads or legs caught in the netting.  My experiences are from horse keeping, where if a hay net can get tangled, torn or lost it will.

Hi, Hilary's mum

No they're not horned, so I'll tie the haynets as I would for Smokey and take them in at night, just in case.
