Title: Orchids
Post by: northfifeduckling on October 08, 2011, 03:52:43 pm
no really appropriate category here, but I'll ask anyway -
what do I do with an orchid I was given and that has finished flowering? Will it ever flower again in a normal house? Or shall I chuck it on the compost? :&>

I'm no expert but have had indoor orchids for several years that have flowered again.  In my experience they don't like a lot of water but other than that I do little to them.  Perhaps if I were to look after them properly they would produce flowers even more frequently.

We had two orchid plants recently acquired from a supermarket because they were going over. They've just been kept in a bright place but not full sun with limited watering ie kept pretty dry. They are now flowering again on the same stem that they flowered on originally. They also had some feed when they started to bud.
