I have an old International B414 tractor, this has a registration plate however the DVLA do not recognise it as when new in 1966 registration was apparently thru the local authority (not the DVLA which it would seem did not exist at the time). I am led to believe that I need to undertake registration to obtain a road licence even though the licence is free.
The DVLA has sent me a list of owners clubs to assist however there isn't one for International Harvester.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction or offer any pointers.

contact one of the owners clubs mentioned
photograph the number plate
photograph the vin plate
you should still get an age related plate DO NOT ACCEPT A Q PLATE
possibly the number has been alocated to another vehicle there has been some funny goings on with vehicle numbers
the owners clubs should confirm to dvla that everything is correct vin plate and number relevant to that age of tractor

a q plate they cannot determine the age of the tractor not enough original parts to qualify for that year of manufacture numbers do not match and the big one it is not worth as much if it is being exported it does not matter where do you think all the stolen plant and equipment cars and lorries go :farmer:

Can I suggest that you try the David Brown Tractor Club, it is a very good website and active tractor club. They do help with a V5 for a tractor. If there is no International Harvester club (shame), the link is that when David Brown was aquired by Case Tractors, production was closed in Huddersfield and shifted to Doncaster, the International Plant.

finally i get the letter telling me i can have the v5 for my tractor
not to bad filled in 2 forms then sent photos of Vin plate and reg number So after 3 months it will get printed on the 28 Oct yippee then get it insured :farmer:

There is an International 3 furrow plough on e bay at the moment, it is only at £80. It will fetch double that amount in scrap. If I had an IH B414 then that plough is a must have. If only for show purposes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and your tractor will receive some nice comments with that plough on it. 8)
