Title: Clucky new mum
Post by: minidax on February 20, 2009, 08:37:03 pm
I am probably worrying over nothing but we let our chickens out today for the first time after being in their run for a week, I thought they would make a run for it as soon as I opened it but they were quite reluctant to investigate their new surroundings; they did after a while and some cajoling with a few treats!! 'Valentina' (got them on valentines day - yes, sad I know!) seems to be a bit of a loner and stayed with me all day in the polytunnel and didn't really mix with the rest of them or venture outside, do you think I should worry ...? :chook: :chook:

Valentina? I've never heard of chicken valentina - how do you make that? ;D

is it wrong to call you chickens Provencale, Fajita, Tikka Masala, Sunday Roast?

sellickbhoy, stop thinking of food! I'm sure they're layers...

Valentina might just be at the bottom end of the pecking order and glad to be away...I would keep an eye if she's unwell in other ways. I'ts all pretty new for them, that might be all it is (hopefully). :&>

Thank you northfifeduckling, they are layers although my son is of the same opinion as sellickbhoy!  I will keep an eye on her - she seems to be healthy and bright enough although not out rooting around like the rest of them, a couple of them seem to be a wee bit bullying so maybe she is just staying away from them?  They have plenty of space to roam around in now so once they find their feet hopefully things will be fine.  Not sure I was this 'clucky' when my kids were born!!!
