Title: Felting progress

Well I sold my first two scarves last weekend at a workshop I was running :)

I also learned to make a waistcoat but it's not finished yet cos the project just proved too big for my back to cope with :(

But today I started making bags - and am loving them cos I love bags and being able to make new ones for myself is a huge relief now I can't go buying scarves and bags :D

The only minor issue is getting the 2 handles to stay the same length - I'm thinking I may have to adapt the pattern to make one large handle instead of 2 wee ones then I won't have that problem ;D

Make one large handle and the cut it into equal lengeths of two? Just from the point of felting, then you can decide on the lengths after you felted it, and if too short for two - leave it as one, if long enough - two handles it is?

Only point would be if only one handle it needs to be stronger as it needs to take double the weight.

The template includes the handles so they're not separate and start the same length - just somehow when I'm rolling them one comes slightly longer and I tighten the other as much as I can but they're not quite identical by the end.. happened twice now ::)

loving the colours, the process of rolling and getting things the same size just comes with practice you can also try making them seperately then needle felting them in place (which I have done on a couple of occasions when things have gone really wrong.

Made a wall hanging and my first hat now, and just bought fibre to have a go at slippers :)

I am full of ideas but my back gets a bit sore doing bigger projects so I am thinking of clearing out the garage to make into a permanent workshop/store and see if I can get some old kitchen units/surface to put at that height out there which should be better for my aches and let me crack on when I'm keen :)

I'll post pics when the latest stuff is dry.. which may take some time given it's not the hanging outdoors kind of weather just now.. ::)
