Post by: gem on June 30, 2011, 01:33:42 pm
at the moment i have a flock of chinese geese, they are purebreds and im hoping i will do ok showing them this year. at home i want to make the most of what i have

im looking for... lots of recipes for goose eggs (even though ive only got 1 still laying)

recipes for roast goose (i know chinese are not the biggest carcass wise but thats not always a bad thing)

ideas for what to do with goose feathers? how do i clean/sterilise them so i can use them for cushions etc

According to my friend who sells jams etc goose eggs make amazing lemon curd...think neon yellow heaven!
Excellent for egg mayo too
But even better, one of our eggs turned into a Goggle the gosling!

they are such a cheap animal to keep i couldnt be without them, with the feathers.... do you collect ones theyve discarded to sell or is it the softer feathers from their back/belly when you've plucked them for the oven that you bag and sell? and do you need to sterilise/treat them with anything before you bag and sell them?

didnt think of e-bay, is there a market for them?

A biscuit tin with a lot of holes in is one way of sterilising feathers. Put the feathers in and put in a very hot oven for a few minutes.
