Title: AML1 Form
Post by: OldGaffer on May 18, 2011, 10:31:41 am
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does anyone know why we are required to put a vehicle registration number on the AML1 form. Just seems a bit "over the top" to me.

Not 100% but in the last foot and mouth outbreak the ministry had no way of tracking animals, so this is a link showing who moved what. IF you are inspected these details have to be correct

Thank you, it makes some sense now  :)

I can see some logic, behind cleaning of vehicle tyres, etc, after the moving the livestock. I shall ensure my paper work is 100% correct, well at least try my best to ensure it is right!

A lot of animals are moved by hauliers, not the owner, and they may have several vehicles - to know the actual vehicle in which a particular group of animals was moved will help to track contacts

Oh no, regs again ...  Deep breath ....

Yeah, vehicle reg could help trace animals and contacts when it's a cattle trailer or sheep lorry.  Not so useful when it's a 4x4 and trailer...  It's the trailer they need identified  ::)

At least they got rid of 'last place cleaned out and date'.  And a few places have stopped issuing the 'self declaration to cleanse' form...
