Hi what injectable wormer do folks recommend and where can I get some? I've used panacur pellets but hard to ensure each pig gets enough so I thought I'd switch to injectable next time.

We use Ivomectin Helen. Sure our friends SFS will have it in stock ;)

Thanks Beewyched can't see any on SFS.. Plenty of worm count kits tho .. I know SFS will point me to those :-)

I use Dectomax which I get from the vet.

Just checked my AH Book ??? - got the recent lot from vetmedsdirect.co.uk £32.24 inc for 200ml - only need 1ml per 33kg bodyweight & 28 day withdrawel period.
Don't know how many you've got to do, but it may be worth you getting an injector gun too - not sure where we got ours. If you've only got a few may be worth you getting it from your friendly vet in disposable sticks.

We are switching to a injectable wormer (virbamec) the french instructions say that this should be injected subcutanously with a recommendation that it is injected at the base of the tail (ouch!) Has anyone used this type of injection on their pigs? and is it directly under the tail or to one side? Advice would be appreciated.

I inject mine around the neck area (well I instruct OH anyway). Having watched the vet do it. If its wrong please someone be gentle with me.

Agree with HM (gently :D ) - with the Ivomec anyway - inject into the muscle high-up behind the ear on the side of the neck.
I do mine while they're eating - none of them notice  :pig:
