Title: Identification of orange flowered bush please
Post by: suziequeue on April 09, 2011, 05:04:29 pm
Now at last the plants in my garden are starting to show leaves and flowers, I can take photos of them and ask for identification.

I am not a gardener and have "inherited" an extensive garden from the people we bought this property from - so am keen to learn all I can.

Your advice would be invaluable.

thanks

Susanna

I think it might be an ornamental quince?  Will wait to hear from an expert though because I have one too.

Oh - yes - just looked at google images for ornamental quince and it is identical.

THanks very much :-)

I see that you can process the fruits in the autumn - but they need plenty of sweetening

Great for quince jelly  :yum: It's years since I made it but I think the method was the same as apple jelly - in fact I think it's good with some apple in.

The wild bees seem to love it.

I'm going to pay more attention to it this year and prune it nicely in the winter this time.
