Title: Greetings from the Limousin
Post by: Merlinn on December 30, 2007, 07:11:44 pm
Hi all,

I thought it was time that I introduced myself. I have been looking at this site for quite sometime. My name is Geof and I live in the Limousin region of France with my partner. I live in the forest of the Ambazac mountains. Its a very rural area and the hamlet I live in consists of just 9 people, only one of whom is a woman!!

I have 3 dogs, 6 cats, 10 hens and 3 goats. The house we live in is about 250 years old, when we bought it it was semi derelict and we moved in not having any water, electricity or sanitation. Showers were taken outdoors with a watering can. We used a small generator for power, and the loo consisted of a walk up the garden and disappear behind a tree!!!

Now after 3 years we are almost finished with the renovation. We have lots of plans for the future. We have a hobby which earns us a little extra money. We make 1/12th scale miniature facades of peoples houses. We use mostly recycled wood and whatever materials we can get our hands on.

This is a forum I would like to get involved with...

Regards

Hi Ya and welcome.

Your situation sound idylic! I am intreged by your 'hobby' - maybe you could post some photo's, I for one would love to see what you make.

I remember well our first year in France - roughing it!  Mad dog's the Englishman and all that- how true it is!

Welcome and looking forward to your future postings.

Kate
