Title: Moving House
Post by: novicesmallholder on January 29, 2011, 01:51:24 pm
Hi all,

have 2 houses in the run 7 birds in one and 20 in the other, we are looking to re home some more ex batts and want to use one of the houses for them. Has anyone any "hassle free" suggestions to move the 7 into the other house - or is this just going to be sheer perseverance?

Mark

i did it recently, just picked them up and put them in the new house at dusk. let them all out as usual next day, but made sure the first house was closed, they got the message!

I let mine mingle for a few days during the day with their own house for the night and then just move the one batch into the other house at dusk and close off old house. When I did this last time I actually had to isolate the cockerel for a few nights as he wouldn't tolerate the new girls in his house. It all sorted itself after less than a week. You can also mix them up overnight, by moving a few from one house to the other and vice versa, so its a complete re-arrangement, then re-arrange again in the final house by putting them all in there for the night.
