Not many people know this, but ...
"Krill have the unusual distinction of being one of the few creatures that can reverse molt into smaller shells when food is scarce" is what I read.
I just had to share this revelation: I now have a headache trying to work out how on earth they can bring this body-reduction transformation off ! LoL

That's bonkers! "Hey, food is scarce - let me put my limited resources into making a new smaller wardrobe".
P.S. I actually went out to work last week. My work trousers evidently thought I'd died, and were so upset, they haven't been eating properly the past year. They've lost so much weight, I hardly fit them :'( .

I've had to give one of my fav pairs to OH .... even the elastic band instead of button had shrunk!! :roflanim:

Talking of Krill, I've just discovered that the woodlouse is also a crustacean apparently (i.e. not an insect). I guess that means they have gills of sorts !!

...and did you know that the females have a marsupium in which they carry their eggs? I've no idea what a marsupium is, but it sounds kind of antipodean, and pouchy. Woodlice took to the land in the carboniferous and have since mutated into about 3,000 different forms. Pretty magnificent for a little slater.

I was a bit surprised by Wiki entry assertion that ... "They are popular as terrarium (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrarium) pets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet) because of their varied colour and texture forms, conglobating ability and ease of care."
I don't think I'll bother.

Oh I think if there was not a moratorium on more pets in this household I might well go for it. After all if you can invite people to see your conglobating, marsupiumed, terrestrial crustaceans, what's to resist. They are very cute after all :D
