Title: Introducing new sheep
Post by: moprabbit on February 02, 2021, 01:53:46 pm
Sadly I had to have one of my 11 year old pet sheep put to sleep, leaving me with two. I'm about to get a couple of other sheep for company for mine but wondered if anyone had any advice about introducing them. I shall keep them separate for a while to see how things go. Just wondered if anyone had any tips. Thank you

Quarantine them first- speak to vet about treatments to stop them bringing resistant worms, foot problems and scab onto the holding.

Once you’re sure they are clear, I’d just turn them all out together. When I bought ewes it would be about a month before I integrated them with my existing ewes.

Thanks for that Twizzel. All good points.

I agree with Twizzel. Once they are together, two plus two, I don't see you having many problems beyond an initial bit of pushing and shoving.

Thanks Fleecewife. I hope they get on well with each other.
