Title: Where to source small numbers of broiler chicks.
Post by: Rhodie on October 29, 2020, 04:13:59 pm
Is there a hatchery which sells smaller batches of broiler chicks, 50 rather than 100?

Piggotts hatchery. Based somewhere near Milton Keynes of Luton.
They deliver all over the country.
There is another place near Wisbech

I get mine from Poulet Anglais in Lincolnshire. Usually white or brown Hubbards. Minimum 50 chicks. I split the order down between other people in our smallholder group as some people only want to rear 5 or 10 birds. I meet the delivery van somewhere en route when he does the Norfolk run (once a month) to bigger farms. I bring all the chicks back to mine and put them in my brooder and then people can pick up what they want from me at their convenience. It works well.

Do you have a smallholding group or society in your area? You may find they have a similar arrangement going on.

Mostly large dairy and arable farms around here, recently moved and want to get started working towards self sufficiency again.
