This year, a onetime only deal, :excited: not just for Scotland!
Yes the live one at Forfar is cancelled, but we are presently working on a virtual festival, in much the same sort of format as our annual live one.
Competitions, :trophy: livestock showcases, :pig: :chook: :goat: :horse: :&> stallholders :farmer: :spin:, and talks - all online - from the comfort of your own home. :raining:
So, come and join us on the 24th of October. All will be revealed on both the Scottish Smallholding website and the Festival's own dedicated one.
They haven't been updated yet, but check in a couple of weeks time

This sounds like fun. I couldn't get to the Forfar live show, but I shall certainly be online for this
How long will everything stay available? Weeks, months or forever? I'm sure I could never absorb everything in one day.
Might this take over from the physical show for the future or is there no thought of that?
Exciting :yippee:

Oooh, does this mean I can exhibit my MV accredited sheep?
(They're too posh to come to a face to face, but they are currently learning how to use Zoom).

Yes indeed.

I cannot see agricultural shows returning next summer somehow - even with a vaccine available, as far too short a time to ascertain it really works and uptake has been enough to allow herd immunity...

Forever.
I hope it doesn't take over from the physical show but I think there may always be a virtual element - it woudl allow us to have a much wider range of speakers for one thing.

I suspect that both would be well-attended. There will always be folks can't get to the physical event but would love to participate online (eg people who live 600 miles away!), and I would imagine that most if not all of those who could be there in the flesh would do so.

It would mean we could work our way around all the talks, demos and shows, and take our time to go over the content, instead of having to limit ourselves to one or two. No chance to meet up with anyone in the flesh though, which is 90% of the reason for the real show for me :sunshine:

Maybe a Zoom chat room - with breakout groups called Coffee Tables or something! - could be part of it?

WE could probably accommodate this IF there were sufficient moderators available
