Title: External parasites.
Post by: Belladonna01 on June 06, 2020, 10:31:05 pm
Hello all. I have noticed that two of my 7 week old boer kids have a  single pimple like thing under their fur on the muzzle between their eyes. My suspicions are a kind of lice? . i have 10 kids and 8 adults , what treatment is effective? preferably without injecting them .I had wormed the adults the day prior to noticing. Thanks in advance

A photo may be helpful?

A single pimple/spot may just be that, a spot. Or a mild staph aureus infection, it will probably clear up... but again a photo would be helpful.

Yes  IWondered if both are just innocent spots, but I feel a dose of external parasite treatment would be beneficial to the group, as I have only ever dusted louse powder on in the past,.

Absolutely no need unless you actually see signs of a proper infestation of lice and/or mites (check their lower legs/heels for any scabs/ raw skin.

A good brush to get rid of the winter crud and also help shedding their winter coats is usually good, and most goats love it.
