Title: Cockerel needed South Aberdeenshire
Post by: The wood pixie on May 21, 2020, 10:36:24 am
Hello everyone, I need to replace my wicked cockerel as I have to shut him away if having visitors.
Wondering if anyone has an Orpington or Brahma for sale near me in South Aberdeenshire?
Thank you for any replies

I feel your pain.  I had a Light sussex like that.  Jamie would chase my grandkids away from the hens, a shame because they loved them.  So I made him put an advert on Gumtree, telling everyone that I had made him pack his little suitcase because he loved his ladies so much and just wanted to protect them.  He said that he need more ladies and less humans.  I had three replies within a couple of hours!!!

Family came for him who had 20 black rock hens free ranging on an acre - got regular messages from Jamie for a while telling me how happy he was, :roflanim:

Perhaps your lead hen could advertise on Gumtree to the same effect?  :innocent:

Dougal came to me because he had been chasing kids but that was a year ago. He's a great cock and looks after 12 girls really well. Unfortunately he hasn't changed apart from being huge and even more bold. I need a big boy as I like my birds to free range.
I had a mellow Orpington before Dougal, he was great.
I'm afraid he's going to have to start packing.
Thanks for your help. Gumtree definitely worth a go

What I did that helped a lot was pick him up, tuck him under one arm, and walk around doing things.  Sometimes I'd turn him round stare him in the face, give him a lecture and throw him on the ground.  Just to let him see that I was th boss.  He was always really good for a while after that - so he was Ok with adults but still chased my grandkids.

Hi Wood Pixie
we’ve not got any Orpington or Brahma  boys, but we’ve got a couple of big 3 year old leghorn boys you could have your pick of. We are in south Aberdeenshire too. They’ve been raised around kids so are used to little folk running around. PM if you’re interested.
Cheerio.
