Hi all,
The hedge plants are all alive! The ones we were planting in December have only just gone in due to the previous waterlogged conditions - only another 200ish to go tomorrow! Next challenge is irrigation as don't want to lose any this summer if it's hot and dry again, and want some growth too! have been reading up on drip hoses, soaker hoses etc but can't find the answer I need! And the suppliers aren't interested it seems having a conversation - they think everything is answered on their websites! What I am finding however is the length of hose needed exceeeds what they are saying is max. So hoping someone out there may have found a solution and can make some suggestions. Need to keep costs down too. Very roughly have 2 100m runs, both about 50m from the mains tap - we now have water! :). Plan is to have a watering hose laid along new hedges connected to standard 1/2" garden hose and turn it on whenever required. Nothing complicated but dont want to go through all the grief/cost if it's not going to reach the end??? Has anyone tried just making holes in a std hose perhaps? my concern is this will just end up spraying where it's not needed! any suggestions welcome please........

I use soaker hose which is supposed to have a max length of 50 m. However if you split your supply using a tee junction for example and then run a standard hose alongside your soaker with the two connected at the far end, the water feeds in from both ends of the 100m soaker to water your hedge.

thanks Terry, sometimes the obvious stares you in the face but you can't see it! One of the hedge lines already has a hose running along it anyway!! much appreciated.............. :thumbsup:

Can confirm it works over the required distance with just 1/2” garden hose at one end - which is about 40m. Another hedge run of about 80m also good with the supply hose longer. Maybe 60-70m. Not measured. Few joined together!
