Title: Dispatching geese in Somerset/Dorset/Devon ?
Post by: Possum on December 12, 2019, 04:18:09 pm
Our geese were due to go to a local farmer to be dispatched tomorrow afternoon. Something that has been happening for the last seven years. He told us at lunchtime that he is now too busy to do them! So now we are trying to find someone else to dispatch and dress them. Needless to say, our initial attempts have not got us very far. Does anyone know where in the West Country can take our 11 geese before Christmas???

Well, after 24 hours of phone calls and pleading we finally found a friendly farmer in Dorset who could do the deed. The only trouble was he didn't have the facilities to hang them so they are currently dangling from the rafters in the garage. Fortunately we have also found a butcher who was prepared to draw and dress 11 extra geese a few days before Christmas. So off to town tomorrow for the final hurdle.

We have met and spoken to some friendly and very helpful people while we sorted this out and it confirmed that there is still some generous Christmas spirit around. But not something I would want to go through again!
