Title: Looking to rent/borrow a Hebridean tup this November
Post by: NewHebKeeper on August 22, 2019, 05:04:22 pm
Hi,

We live near Colne in east Lancashire and are looking to borrow a Hebridean tup this October/November.  We only have three girls and an acre and a half of land so can't justify having our own .  We are fairly new to the etiquette/logistics  of this and also don't currently have a trailer, so would need for the tup to be dropped off and picked up, costs covered of course.

If you have a handsome sexy boy with his own wheels who is looking for some action with three little ravers please get in touch!

You might be better to send your ewes to the tup, rather than bringing him to you.  That way, the tup's owner can still use him on his ewes.
We don't lend or lease out tups any more after a couple of bad experiences, and for biosecurity reasons.  One of those occasions was where permanent damage was caused to our tup, and the other, we acquired orf and infectious conjunctivitis as a special gift!

It is usual to pay a stud fee for using a tup, plus a grazing fee if you send your ewes to him.

(I'm not offering a tup incidentally, just a comment)
